There will be a few (not me I hasten to add) UTS'ers that attended another important relagation match against Charlton in the early 60's.

Hoping for a different outcome this time, heart says 2-0, head says 2-2 :(

5980 to watch the drama unfold

I was there Neil - we were totally and utterly "robbed" that night, with 9 fit players for a good deal of the match (injuries, not sendings-off) and having gone 0-2 down we actually pulled one back. A final score of 2-2 would have kept us up and sent Charlton down, and it's about time they thought seriously about doing us a return favour.

All the stops will HAVE to be pulled out for this game, as I really can't see us getting much at St. Mary's. Head and heart says a 2-1 home win :?

I don't know.

I think we can get a win, but we should've won yesterday.

All I know is that Chestersaddler, PT, KC and Pedagogue will be dressed up as Kiss, prompting a Jewish rock takeover.

If we follow the accepted logic of nearly everyone on Monday, we need to be three points clear of 21st by 5pm next Saturday and be going to Southampton not needing a thing. This means we need to win, Dagenham to lose (and be down) since they have a better goal difference than us and Rovers to draw (and be as good as down with the goal difference). Plymouth are the wild card here; surely they can't beat Southampton at this stage of the season?

We could be safe this weekend, or we could be 23rd and up the creek. It is one of the cruel reasons we love the game. We need to fly out of the traps and drag Charlton into a fast paced, physical confrontation - who wants that two games from the end of a disappointing season when you are trapped in mid-table obscurity? Service to the feet of Cook and Gray please Deano - no long ball crap and Richards out for Marco. I'd be tempted to start Nicholls up top or swapped onto the wing with Cook returning up front. I think pace is the key.

Walsall 2 Charlton 1. A tense nervous afternoon all round.

Tinned and Whitti Steve to have a very giggly, pillow fight at half time in The Stadium Suite infront of a baying crowd :)

Don't bank on it. Not that I disagree with Sheff, in a match of such importance, against such poor travellers, we really should win. But this is Walsall, and things rarely go to plan.

Agree entirely with that assessment, but the hope is that they don't re-discover their form from earlier this season - they had the kind of away performances that could drive me back to tobacco........... such as:

Peterborough 1 Charlton 5
Carlisle 3 Charlton 4
Swindon 0 Charlton 3

(Those three results were all within a 3 week period Oct-Nov. They also managed a 1-1 draw at Brighton on 29 Dec, so I wouldn't necessarily call them a "sorry team") :?
