We have won on penalties Leyland Daf ? but can't remember when it was.
Talking of penalty shoot outs can any one remember the playoff final 2nd leg against Bristol City, Fellows Park. The penalties were to decide who had home advantage for the replay. We won and didn't we just hammer them in the replay. Come back David Kelly, Jimmy Walker has.

Winning that penalty shootout was like winning the match! Fantastic moment.

I remember it well. I also remember them having a shot late on that would have given them a 3 - 0 win on the day and a 4 - 3 aggregate win. Their fans jumped up, their players jumped up and the ref (or lino?) said it hadn't crossed the line. All my hopes and dreams faded in that split second :D .

I remember queueing up Hillary Street on the Sunday to get a ticket for the third game on the Monday. While I was there I bought my Walsall FC promotion t-shirt. I was too scared to have it on show during the match so put a jumper over the top. I soon had it on show following the David Kelly show. :D

I don't quite know how we didn't lose promotion that day, apart from the incident you mentioned, they looked likely to add a 3rd at any time, we really didn' t turn up that game, it was probably the worst performance of the season. A case of thinking the job was done, a bit like the semi final of the play offs against Nott's County, when we did our best to fudge it up too.

I wasn't very old, but I think that defeat was the lowest I have ever felt following Walsall. I never missed a game home or a away that season, was just so devastating to go to a game for a promotion party, and have it taken away.

When the penalty shootout was going on, I wasn't really interested, it was just like the end of the world, and it didn't really seem that important at the time, but looking back now, I think we would have had a hard job on to go away and beat them again, after throwing it away like that.

Not low enough to tempt too many fans I reckon.

Also, I know it's a long standing complaint, but why do they allow away fans to pay cash on the turnstiles but force home fans to either phone and buy tickets beforehand or queue outside the ticket office on the night? Surely for a midweek match (where people are in a rush from work etc) and with an expected low crowd it's not too much to ask to allow the home fans the same ease of entry as the away fans?

I agree too. After a hard day's work, if I can make it to the game at all, I won't bother if I need to mess about at the ticket office.

Good point. Won't help with this fixture though. And as a season ticket holder, I think this may be the last match ticket I need to buy this season. :(

I hope we lose against 5 bellies (the penalty kick misser) and his Fleetwood cronies; surely then, Bonser will see what everyone else at the club has been seeing for the last two months.

Plain and simple - Hutchings - you are incompetent and need to go - and take your DVDs with you, you clown :x

And here's an idea:

play a team of Walsall players and see what happens:

Jimmy Walker

Darryl Westlake
Mannie Smith
Paul Butler
Julian Gray

Alex Nicholls
Sean Geddes
Matt Richards
Steve Jones

Jon Macken
Will Grigg

Subs:
Jamie Paterson
Johnny Brain
Aaron Lescott
Richard Taundry
Aaron Forde
Oliver Lancashire
George Bowerman

The loanees are not necessarily good for team spirit and the strikers have shown that they are pap

2-1 to Fleetwood. I can't see any other result, as we are simply there for the taking at the moment. They, as a top 4 placed Conference club, will certainly fancy it.

Barely 2,200 to see it, including a few hundred from Lancashire.

I was planning to go tomorrow but I now have to be in Glasgow so I will have to settle for Sadsworld commentary instead.

I have a nasty feeling we will go down on pens after finishing 2-2 aet. 1863 to witness a low point in our history. Me to drown my sorrows with a few single malts :(

Walsall will win 7-0.

if we can't polish this lot off at home after they blagged a draw at their gaff we may as well give up and close down.

Bangor to make the mad dash from North Wales, only to be ejected from the ground for bringing his inflatable sheep.

The odds of Fleetwood (11/2) winning by one goal, in normal time, look extremely tempting.

Am I mad ??? but looking forward to the game tonight, thermals and bovril to keep the frost at bay

This is the start of a run of wins, which alongside the bizzarre sacking of Mullen post the cancellation of the game two seasons ago will result in Huthcings being sacked!

Well Bonser logic does apply
