Positives to be taken from what sounds like a decent display for the first hour or so and Macken getting on the score sheet. A shame that Nicholls seems to have had an uncharacteristic 'moment of madness'.

Hopefully Macken will be fully match fit in double quick time, if only to be an automatic replacement for the suspended Nicholls (silly boy).

Oh, and Pakistan all out for 74
Warwickshire 141 for 3, chasing 153 to win

On Saddlers Player Hutchings said that NIcholls has admitted that he kicked out at the other player, and said that he deserved to be sent off.

So we will have to manage with Nicholls for three matches. Since Hutchings very rarely changes the team unless he has to because of injury, suspension or international call-ups, at least we should have the chance to see our two new signings together.

What the hell is it about us and a 2-1 scoreline in the league this year? Every game so far.

I'd hope that byfield is rested tuesday and ready for saturday. However I am slightly thinking hutch will risk him and we could then suffer the consequences of a long term lay off.

Just back , poor in second half -Reid playing on his own up front didn't work, ball never stuck . Macken looks class very nice goal - but came to late. Walsall's best player for me was Lancashire , he plenty to do !! No midfield and god knows were Marshall was playing? Roll on next sat, hopefully byfield will be back

Sounded like we played some decent football at times, it could have easily ended 1-1 if Nicholls didn't get sent off.

Great to see Macken score, sounded like a decent finish. Hopefully he finds some of his Preston goal scoring form

It could more easily have finished 4-0 to be fair. We were all over the place at the back in the second half. They took us apart time after time and with better finishing we could have been hammered.

Yeah tbh it could have been 3 or 4 nil, but thats football. Brighton would have been absolutely kicking themselves if it ended 1-1 which it probably would have if we had 11 men on the pitch.

Oh well onwards and upwards, we can beat Chesterfield on Tuesday to progress into the 2nd round of the JPT...then on Saturday we can beat Colchester.

First half performance was good and we looked very promising. Should have been 2-0 up at half time.

I cant comment on the second half performance, only on the Brighton performance as i could hardly see past the half way line. All i can say is in the second half, the marking for both their goals was dreadful

Decent first half performance. Brighton started very nervously and we were on top in the first 20 minutes. We looked less solid in the second half. Lovely finish by Macken- looks promising!
