A great win, but 121 Saddlers at a first Saturday away game is seriously crap. Even at my most pessimistic, I thought it would be 200. Cheltenham had more than that there in midweek for the League Cup  .

Just got back, cracking day, cracking result and cracking atmosphere considering we only took less than 130!!!

That report is about right for the first 10 minutes as we couldn't even think if their keeper even touched the ball, then Nicholls pulls off a lovely flick over the keeper from an angle to open the scoring!

Was end to end after that for a while and we we're playing pretty well until they scored theirs which was an odd goal. Ball came in and Lescott and Alexander headered it and Brain pulled off a tv save but he was trying to catch it with both hands and it was like he just didn't put the effort in to actually keep it and it kind of pulled him into the goal!!! Oddly described but there you go!

2nd half was a lot better and the goal came from Byfield turning their defence inside out and crossed it to a near enough unmarked grey just by the post who smacked it into the tightest of places.

After that it was all them, attack after attack and they had a free kick a few minutes before the end... and Brain pulled off the save of the season to which he probably had no idea himself how he saved it (off his foot as he was going the other way!) The resulting corner they hit the post... to which it was pretty much all over then!

So overall, a lot lot better performance wise, squeeky bum time for the last 15 but very happy! Uts! 8)

Cheers for that, Zece. And all power to the 130 or so who made the trip to Griffin Park. Glad the team made it worth your while.

Last time I went Carl Emberson was in goal and let in a right howler after about ten minutes. I think we lost 2-1.

Delighted with the win. Not the best of performances, but it was a determined, gritty performance which showed passion.

Can't realy add much to what Zece said as he pretty much explains the match.

MOTM was Brain. Pulled off a string of fine saves. Thought he should have done better for their goal, and his handling was a bit dodgey at times, but he kept us in it.

Totally agree.
The quoted away attendance is complete rubbish.

Defence did pretty well today against a very "robust" opposition.

A surprising & pleasing result. Well done lads.

We desperately need good home win & performance. It's all well & good winning away from home, but 95% of our fans only go to home matches & are getting more & more disillisuioned every home match by pee poor performances. We desperately need to improve home form, otherwise the crowds wil be down to 2500/3000 and the finances will suffer even further.

I thought we did well. A huge improvement from last November's FA Cup exit. There was real determination on display and I thought we defended very sensibly. Byfield was a very different player as captain this time. First time my 9 year old son has seen us win in 6 attempts so he was chuffed!

It's always good to break the duck, but that's been a long time coming by even Walsall's standards!

Any report on whether we tried to play football or hoof it?

Bit of both in all fairness. We tried to knock it about, especially in the 2nd half. Some of it was decent, and the build up for the 2nd goal was quality. We did use a lot of hoof ball in the first half, not as much in the 2nd.
