1-0 Nicholls scored.

Apparently we're a bit shakey at the back so far.

We have a bit of nice movement. Mcgivern looks available if we could switch the ball from right to left quickly.

Actually if you look at the squad on paper, it doesnt look too bad at all. Just needs some depth.

What number is McGivern wearing... If it is 22 then Stokes is a goner.

cant remember the number but i thought he was a class act.

always wanting to get forward.

always free out wide to the left if only we could switch he ball across in one pass.

The problem in getting forward tho is will he be found out against higher opponents

I'm confused - both the BBC and Sky websites have the result as Port Vale 0 Walsall 1. Can anyone tell me the real story????

He was in NI's team last night. They lost in the final to USA. A competitive tournament for him will have served him better that a pre-season at Vale. I expect Grigg will be a permanent fixture in the first team squad this year.

It was 1-1, Vale scored one of those was it over the line or not goals, but the linesman flagged and the ref gave it.

I thought we were alright, started to play better as the game went on.
Our goal was quality. Long diagnal ball straight to Nicholls who's first touch set himself up nicely for a composed finished.

At the back we were decent. Beaven should be first choice in my opinion. Lescott was decent, Smith decent, McDonald was on form and I was impressed by McGivern.

I think the main problem is our finishing, or lack of it. Byfield should have scored 2, Deeney should have had 1, Gray should have had 1, and just in general we seemed to panic a bit in the final third.

I thought that Jones looked dangerous when he came on and I was impressed by Patterson as well.

Overall, not the ideal result, but as people say, friendly results don't realy matter. We were a bit flat at times, and reverted to hoof ball, but at times we played some decent stuff.
