Nicholls now on..for Byfield, can't understand why we haven't taken a midfielder off

Bradley has hardly had a mention on the commentary. Will be interesting to hear the views of those in attendance.

No Parkin on the bench today. There have been a number of crosses gone begging - could well have been a good option for the last half hour

Seems a little disapointing we gave it away with a penalty but does sound like it was a improved performance and we didnt surrender to a team higher up which is always good.
looking forward to reports when people get back

Just listened to Hutchings interview - he is not happy with Hughes decision making for the penalty - "cost us the game"

But overall he sounded pleased with the performance

no idea how we lost that , but full marks for a good and spirited performance.

excellent performance . first half in particular they literally never threatened us and scored out of nothing . we should have gone at ht in the lead - we were bright and lively , and played it on the floor very well at times .

second half as expected they came more in to it and created some pressure but i still think the goal again came unexpectedly , and it looked a daft challenge from Hughes in an area where it wasnt needed . a good ten minutes pressure at the end i thought was going to bring an equaliser but not to be

thought byfield's running and link up play frightened the life out of them ; and not having seen much this season but having read how bad Bradley has been this year , he pleasantly surprised me . mattis did excellent work in the middle too

good performance , deserved a point shame about Hughes penalty give away , motm byfield .

It has to be said, we were unfortunate to lose this game. In the first half we dominated and Colchester were trapped in their own half. They had 10 men behind the ball throughout and thereby managed to frustrate us and prevent us from capitalising. Then they got a lucky break and completely against the run of play scored with a defection which gave Ince no chance. Within a minute we were back in it when Byfield broke free and scored with a left footed drive. Game on. In the second half Colchester came back into it and our defence looked shaky at times. Weston looked sound but Sansara got caught out a few times. The penalty decided matters...it was conceded quite unneccesarily by Hughes and cost us the game. We came back into to it and put Colchester under pressure with Till receiving plenty of service on the right as did Richards on the left but their crosses were poor and mostly overhit. Both Mattis and Bradley played well in mid field. It was GREAT to see the ball played along the ground. The ref was on their side by the way which didn't help.

Just got back...gutted to lose this one, dominated long periods in the first half, didn't think it was a penalty for then either, the ball went in the direction of Hughes tackle indicating he got the ball.

Was Byfield injured??? if not why on earth did Hutchings take him off and put Nicholls up front whe it seemed the natural choice to replace the ineffective Till.

Is that 2 assists in 2 games now for Mark Bradley? Last week a complete flook, but this one looked like a good ball through to Byfield. :D
