Re: Hartlepool (A)
A bit grim. Only two wins in eleven matches so far this season - and only one win in our last nine. One point above the relegation zone. :(

Just had a text off someone whos at hartlepool. He said it's a game between two very poor teams, we can't create anything or score for toffee!!! Relegation looms if nothing changes over the season.

Im not arguing with you because in one way i agree. But i wouldnt say hes useless. We went 5 games unbeaten. But saying that we have only won 2 games.
CH needs to have a look at himself and his tactics. Be intresting what he says monday. We got Huddersfield next, we wont win that without lady luck on our side.

Thing is though Sheff, what happens if Hutch gets the sack? We bring in another mediocre CHEAP manager and we are back to square one after another 6 months, and so it begins again........

I think that Messrs. Graydon, Lee and Money would beg to differ.

Yes they could, bring in some decent replacements for the players we lost during the summer. And the one player that looked any good in Jones he doesn't even play him anymore!!!!!

And despite each of them being responsible for bringing the club great success, two were sacked by Jeff Bonser and the third left after asking for "assurances".

It sounded as Jones was quite lively when he got on today

That is true Bernie.
My response to Dan was to point out that even with JW Bonser, relative (short term) success on the field is achievable with the right manager.

Re: Hartlepool (A)
Very poor result against a pretty poor opposition. Don't understand why you would bring parlin on when 3-0 down after 80 mins. all our strikers have been rubbish this season, time to give Grigg a chance. Why didn't he give him a 10 minute run out this afternoon??
He has surely got to try some of the younger lads before xmas as it is clear the regular 1st teamers are not good enough and don't want it enough!! Grigg, okeefe, nicholls, westlake and davies need to be given a lot more exposure.

Yep, I really dont know where we're going to get the points to stay up. We nearly lost to Tranmere who are dire, and only won because they had a 17 year old in goal, and today we've been thrashed by another of the worst 6 teams in the league.

To a certain extent I agree with what you say about the points and about today's game, but as for the Tranmere game, I don't think it was because they had a 17 year old in goal that we won necessarily, it was because their defenders switched off, and Goddison, particularly, looked like he couldn't be arsed after about 60 minutes. I seem to recall the keeper making a couple of good saves.

We deserve to go down though Phil. It was only a matter of time before Bonsers penny pinching, and lack of ambition finally took its toll!

Re: Hartlepool (A)
That's one of the most insipid performances I've seen from a Walsall team for a very long time. I know we're coming off the back of a mini unbeaten run and that one should perhaps be wary of reading too much into one game but it really is hard to take any positives out of that shambles.
We made a team who have failed to win at home all season look like serious play-off contenders. We had one shot on target in the entire game and created precisely nothing from open play. Hartlepool opened us up pretty easily by adopting the simple tactic of getting the ball out to their excellent wide men Monkhouse and Brown at the earliest opportunity and offering good support from midfield. I don't think Hartlepool knocked the ball long from the back once all game - but why would you when we employ Clayton McDonald? Walsall, on the other hand, were quite happy to do exactly this - much to Byfield and Deeney's obvious frustration. There's a good case for saying that this is the worst Walsall midfield since the dark days of Merson/Broadhurst. Richards is lazy and careless (I lost count of the number of times he gave the ball away today). Bradley is anonymous. Mattis huffs and puffs but offers nothing going forward. Nicholls looks as cheesed off as he always does when he is asked to play wide right and things aren't going his way.
Presumably McDonald was taken off because of an injury and the prospective central pairing of Hughes and Weston fills me with dread - witness how easily they're bypassed for Hartlepool's third on the highlights.
Plus points? Nice to meet up with otherbournemouthsaddler and Mrs otherbournemouthsaddler and it's always easy to park at Hartlepool but, honestly, that was it.
It was depressing today. Utterly depressing. There wasn't even any anger on the terraces today - just the gallows humour that takes over when fans realise it's going to be a long hard season.
