Just got back (as they say). It is always a pleasure to visit Griffin Park - I have lost count of the number of times I have been here to see the Saddlers. Their fans in the pub are as long suffering as ours. What of the game? A nice easy pre season friendly. Still, nice to watch the aircraft go by though.

Should really have had 3 points today. Brentford were second-best in every department in the 2nd half.
A pleasure to see another cracking performance from Bradley.

Can us no goers have a detailled report please. In return I will do my best to enlighten our readership after next weeks FA cup trip to cockney land with a scintillating and engrossing tale of daring do by the plucky fellows of Walsall.
My brothers report consisted of 'I'm sitting in the stand soaking up the atmosphere!' and number one son reported 'we were rubbish and Jones scored' but to be fair to him my phone was on low battery and I had to cut him short. I'm sure I'll get a more detailled description tomorrow but it's tonight, hence my request.

Re: Brentford (A) League 1 Saturday 21/11/09.
Another game where we didn't turn up first half. We were second best all the way through the first half apart from the first 5 minutes.
There goal could have been prevented. Weston should have closed down the winger quicker and not let him cut inside. When he did allow him to cut inside, he needed to be stronger in the challenge. Abit of a sloppy goal to concede.
The rest of the first half was pretty poor. It was Brentford forward, us hoof it away.
Second half was better. We started off decent with Jones making a run, but losing the ball.
We then seemed to fade abit, but seemed to equalise almost from nowhere. Good confident finish from Jones.
From then on we were mainly on top. Brentford rarely threatened second half and we could have won it.
Overall, I'd say a point was fair. A good result considering our recent record at Griffin Park.
As for individual performances.
Ince - Same old. Solid.
Weston - Very poor first half, much improved second.
Smith - Very good. Made a few important challenges. Another good performance from him.
Hughes - Solid.
Sansara - Had a good game against a tricky Bostock. Also made a few vital challenges.
Jones - Quiet compared to usual. But took his goal well and looked a threat when on the ball.
Mattis - Didn't realy notice him do much.
Bradley - Another good game from him. His confidence seems to be coming back,
Richards - Never realy got into the game first half. Played ok second half.
Deeney - Poor, but was feeding off scraps most the time.
Byfield - Quiet first half, but looked dangerous in the second.
Parkin - Not a lot of time to do much to be fair to him.
MOTM - Smith/Bradley

Didnt turn up first half, Brentford looked lively and threatening. Woke up in the 2nd half in the belting rain, and could and should have nicked it.

A point away at a not-often-happy hunting ground is fine by me. :)

I thought Sansara had his best game so far for us. A brilliant and brave challenge to stop their attack and kept their wonder kid Bostock quite quiet.
Weston has never been fast but he looked very sluggish in the first half. Kept getting turned and beaten to the ball. I know a lot on this bored claim "but people seem to forget, his first job is to defend" - well for me, the first goal he let himself get tangled up and out thought and the rest of the half he was done every time. He's lost the little bit of pace he did have.

I cant remembering him having pace when he was at arsenal and his other previous clubs. Pace has never been a massive part of his game

It seems like it's even a lesser part of his game now then!
