Peterborough United (A) League 1 Saturday 17/1/09.
I'm begining to wonder when will we play our first game of 2009.
A look at our hosts league form.
Swindon - away - drew 2-2
Stockport - away - won 3-1
Oldham - home -drew 2-2
Leicester - away - lost 0-4
Millwall - home - won 1-0
Cheltenham - away - won 6-3
Big spending Posh are 4th in league 1 on 43points from 23 games played .
Full home record P11 -W7-D3 -L1 - 24 Goals scored 11 against.
The only home defeat came on 30/8/08 aganist Hartlepool 1-2.
Todays fixture at Tranmere is one of many postponed matches.
Prediction . we'll do very well to get a point out of this one.
1-1 Jabo to score.

If we have a new manager - we will win. If Schofield is in charge, I doubt we'll get anything from it.

I think we'll do well to get anything from this irrespective of who is in charge, to be honest - unless Rob's transfer window signings play well!
2-0 home win. :(

The posh 2-0 Walsall
Willy Nilly to drive to the game dressed as Eammon Holmes, then while standing watching the game he shouts " i love you anthea turner" . Then proceeds to claim his love for jockey and old penk saddler by buying them a plastic seagull.
Its a good it can fly

A tough ask this one, although if the players were unwilling to perform for Mullen, now here is the chance to put in a big performance. Shame Ricketts is still out, but I'm hoping we can sneak a 1-1.
kiansmom and Big Baz 1 to have half time game of Twister in front of a baying crowd. Bag Baz loses and is last seen heading to the town centre to buy a table :)

Well I was going to go to this one but I am now undecided erring on the cannot be bothered. I would like to see if there is a response from the player now Muddle has gone. After releasing two players this week one that was expected the other that I feel is a mistake I think the lads will be on a downer.
I cannot see us getting anything out of the Posh this time around. We might be able to scrap a consolation goal so a 3-1 defeat for us but it wouldn’t surprise me if the lads did go out and pull off a shock win.

I'll be there, but I can't help but think that the usual bounce after a manager is sacked has been scuppered by the Boertin & Reich fiasco.

May be they are hoping to create the "Clough" feeling like Derby did v Man U
Think will be going for the cheap, ala Bonser, Schofield feeling
Based on this weeks events and the uninspiring, unambitious, cheap pending appointment I think we will get tanked 5-1 sorry

3-1 defeat - if we're lucky. Who scores for us is pretty irrelevant.

Let's get this one out of the way so a new manager can come in ready for the very winnable game next weekend.
2-0 defeat.

Team for today;
WALSALL
Clayton Ince
Anthony Gerrard ©
Chris Palmer
Dwayne Mattis
Jabo Ibehre
Mark Bradley
Richard Taundry
Alex Nicholls
Troy Deeney
Manny Smith
Netan Sansara
Subs
Rene Gilmartin
Marco Reich
Richard Davies
Sam Adkins
Hassan Bacchu
Initial reaction - the starting line-up just goes to show how we desperately we need to bring in some new faces before the close of the transfer window. Palmer still plays despite Mullen going. Gerrard is captian - good boost for him. Reich is still here.
No Weston and no Ricketts?

Might be injured? New he didnt get on with mullen, but he's crucial to this team. Palmer, gerrard, smith, sansara un less he drops taundry to right back ,plays deeney upfront & sticks palmer to the wing in a 4-4-2, unlikely though. Worst back 4 in league one history against the best strike partnership in the league. Oh the joys of embarassing defeats.

Initial reaction...sheesh! Show's how desperate we are for senior players to come back. Not sure whether it means taundry is at RB with Palmer in front or the other way round. Unless of course it is 4-5-1 with midfield of Deeney, Taundry, Mattis, Bradley and Nicholls behind Ibehre up front. I'm guessing this is a very 'mullenesque' suggestion but we don't have many options!
Hopefully Weston is just out injured or ill, if he has been dropped for some reason or is off then that is a massive blow.
Interesting observation is Reich on the bench. We know Mullen didn't rate him so didn't play him unless desperate, but does this show that Schofield felt the same?? Surely he would play him with such a lack of experience out there unless this is the case. :?
Hope Gerrard and Manny have a top game - can see it being a hard afternoon for them, and the full backs - Boyd was quality at the Banks'.

You are indeed right! Almost more scary than the one we had at Tranmere!
Suddenly dawned on me that Zaboub is nowhere to be seen. Nothing on the bbc website team news of the game about him being one of the injureds and not in the 16 today, depsite the kindergarten bench. All this, despite being told, I'm sure at some point recently by the club or on the OS, that he was back in contention again after illness or some sort of injury. :?
