I agree... and there was no way it would be "Frozen" until well into the night. My guess is the ref didn't fancy it. Still, it saves the embarrassment of a sub 3000 gate which I am sure it would have been!

Can you imagine a game in the 70's being called off for that? Apparently the ref said that he was concerned for the players safety in case snow came off the ball and went in their faces. For once I agree entirely with Mullen, for that to happen the ball would've had to be kicked into the air thus shaking off any nasty, dangerous snow.

I bet that ref was a school head teacher. Probably banned conkers as well

Who was the ref? He must be a complete plonker! Btw, thanks for the message, Steve - I was able to forestall North Staffs Saddler North of Lichfield.

Glad I sped through five counties and hurled my family past dozens of gritters and various other contraptions to be told the game was off.

If it had been a normal game for me i.e. a 2 mile jaunt, it would bloody well have been on.

It better not be as I've got to drive 120 miles to get there.

Somehow can't see it though - unless you're having a real blizzard that's leading to drifts several feet high rather than the very wet stuff that's not really sticking that I suspect. I can't remember the last time that a game at Bescot was postponed - and I can't see a few flakes in October making this the first.

Hmmm, that doesn't look so clever now!

However, having got as far as Junction 7 of the M6 and not seen more than a couple of millimetres of snow (and it had stopped snowing by then) I can't believe that was a justifiable postponement. One man with a broom could have swept the snow off the surface in about 10 minutes if the will to do it had been there. Something tells me that it suited the club not to play tonight. Somehow, after spending more than 4 hours getting there and back, I can't agree...

To be fair, it was "heavy" snow - but it did stop snowing approx 5:30 in the area - so a few hours to do.

Bob - the ref was Carl Boyeson from Hull.He must have been short of 'readies' and opted for half his match fee and the chance to do the re-arranged match.

Well you can see where people have walked on the pitch, their footsteps have melted the snow. That's pretty heavy duty snow!

The weather was pretty bad all afternoon yesterday, it has to be said. Whilst I was gutted it was called off as I found out at New Street Station, it came as little surprise.

Bearing in mind the contrasting form of the two sides, I think it's fair to say the ref's decision suited us more than them.

To rub salt into the wound for Swindon, their team coach broke down on the M5 on their way back

Town's evening was made worse with the Team Coach forced to pull over on the return trip down the M5 with a replacement coach called out to ferry the squad back to The County Ground.

Am I allowed to make another prediction? Or do I have to stick with the one I made for the original game?

Millwall - home - lost 1-2
Hartlepool - home - drew 3-3
Huddersfield - home - lost 1-3
Southend - away - lost- 1-2
Northampton - home - won 2-1
Oldham - home - won 2-0

The first of 3 very winnable home games that could shape the rest of our season .
Swindon are sitting 15th in League 1 on 15 points , we are now 13th on 18 points

No excuses a game we simply must win .
Walsall 3-0 Swindon.

They say a week is a long time in politics. It would seem that on current form our away games are more "winnable" than our home games

Anyway Duke, are you intending to start the Oldham thread any time soon? :)
