Scunthorpe United (Home) League 1 Saturday 16/8/08.
Back to league action against recently relegated Scunthorpe .
Scunny were beaten 2-1 by Leeds the opening day of the season and at the time of writing were losing 3-0 in the Carling Cup at Hartlepool .
Nothing otherthan an home win will do .
2-0 To the Saddlers

A 1-1 draw. If we're lucky.

1-1 draw --> Jabo with a 90th minute header from an Ishmel cross to 'save the day'

Although they have started the season off badly, losing to Leeds and Hartlepool in the cup. Scunthorpe are a very good side.
Id expect us to lose this one. 2-0

I think we'll lose this one, hope they prove me wrong. 2-1 to Scunthorpe. Hooper 2 & Jabo for us.

Kick start the season with a cheeky 2-1 win, with a late goal from Hughes to secure all three points.

1-1 draw if 2 or fewer changes from last night's line up are made. 2-1 to us if the likes of Mattis and Boertein return to the side. I'd definitely play Ishmel up front in this one.

It would be nice - we haven't had a clean sheet in a competetive match since March 1st.

Re: Scunthorpe United (Home) League 1 Saturday 16/8/08.
i think this depends on who we have available, i think mattis will be the key player! if he plays we could see a home win maybe 1-0 or 2-1. otherwise i think we will get beat 3-1 or 2-1, again like i say depends who is available! we defo need a win, to get the confidence up!

Re: Scunthorpe United (Home) League 1 Saturday 16/8/08.
I'd be inclined to go for...
Ince
Palmer, Gerrard, Roberts, Boertein
Reich, Mattis (if fit, Bradley if not), Hughes, Zaaboub
Ibehre, Ishmel
My concern with that team is that Zaaboub and Ishmel would get in eachother's way far too often. I'd put Ishmel up front however, because I think he's more of a threat than Nicholls and Deeney put together wherever he plays. Reich looks too good a footballer to be left out of the side, so I'd play him on the right even if that might not be his best position.
Mattis being fit will be a very welcome bonus. Fingers crossed.

I'd make one change from your line up Rob . Deeney for Ishy .
the return of Boertein and Mattis would give us a big boost .

Re: Scunthorpe United (Home) League 1 Saturday 16/8/08.
As always happens to me come the first home game of the season, I can't make it :(
I will be with you all in spirit though and I'll pray to all my gods for a Saddlers win. If Nicholls is not needed in midfield I would go for him up front instead of Deeney or Asbo, with the latter replacing Zaaboub depending how the game goes. Fingers crossed for Mattis and I agree with Rob regarding Reich, too good to be left out if fit.
