1/8/08 Chasetown (a)

Fri Aug 01, 2008 10:23 pm

Chasetown 0 2 Walsall

Attendance:- 350

Walsall (4-4-2)

Rene Gilmartin

Mark Bradley
Daniel Piorkowski
Manny Smith (Capt.)
Paul Boertien

Mark Lowe (or Inigo Iniakez???) (Harry Harris)
Marco Reich (Darryl Westlake)
Keegan Ayre
Ishmel Demontagnac (Hassan Bacchus)

Troy Deeney
Nick Chadwick (Josh Craddock)

Unused Substitutes:-
Tom Cox (gk)
Tom Schwarz (def.)

A much stronger Saddlers line-up than I expected, in view of tomorrow's game at Port Fail. A good work-out for the likes of Boertien (a full 90 minutes) and chances for Piorkowski, Ayre and Chadwick to impress the watching JM and JS. A first-half goal from Chadwick and a second-half effort from Deeney clinched the win for the Saddlers.

I wonder how many will be involved in tomorrow's match in Burslem?

Makes sense playing Reich, though, as he's a bit further behind in preparation, as will the "mystery man". Piorkowski, Chadwick and Ayre need looking at as much as possible. The interesting one is Bradley at right back. I don't think Mullen sees him starting in midfield!

Match action on the Chasetown site... including pics of a Portly Gary Birch and "Lowe"

http://www.chasetownfc.co.uk/scripts/ph ... ection=170

I went last night and can report that Manny Smith and Deeney stood out for me although there were sound performances all round.

Gary Birch did look a little portly didn't he!! If our 'mystery man' "Lowe" is the one in front if Gilmartin as they walk out in the 4th photo, i'd say he's a little short for idiakez and doesn't quite look like the same guy in the youtube montage that 1966 stuck up in the thread on AAW.

Is he the one in the first picture of the second page of images? If so, compare him to this pic of Idiakez:

That looks a bit closer to him, but I still think he looks a bit small compared to the Youtube clips. :?

It could be him - I'll say no more than that
