4143 - No-one is expecting you to like the district of Rushall (although there are many worse areas), just to support the football team. Why? Well, it started out as a discussion, earlier this summer, with alternatives to WFC. It was pointed out that non-League football football can offer just as appealing and much, much cheaper entertainment. In the Borough of Walsall, there are several senior non-League clubs, viz. Sporting Khalsa, Darlaston Town, Pelsall Villa, Walsall Wood, Willenhall Town and, of course, Rushall Olympic. On the basis of last season's results, Rushall are the highest ranked of these clubs.
Rushall offers an attractive alternative for people who do not want to subsidise some-one's pension fund - that's all.

Re: 23/7/08 - Stafford Rangers (a)
Well, Rushall beat the Bluenoses 1-0 tonight. The visitors fielded mainly junior professionals but also Franck Queudrue (on £20K per week!).
Did anyone go to the Stafford match tonight? If so, what was the team/score?
If anyone REALLY wants to see Bully's Stafford Rangers, they are playing Rushall Olympic on Saturday, at Dales Lane, k.o. 3-00 p.m. If you can't get to Burton and don't want to watch the youth team at Pelsall Villa, why not pop along to Rushall and give Bully a bit of "verbal"?

I was born and raised in lovely Bentley and lived there for over 18 years, after going away to Uni and living in Bradford (nice surprisingly) I moved to Rushall and lived there for about 5 years - and I can categorically say in my experience Rushall is better!
Closer to where I now live ('leafy' Aldridge (TM)), In Rushall there seems to be less large scale council housing (whoa! - not that council housing is a bad thing - the houses just aren't as aesthetically pleasing sometimes. Phew - think I got away with that one!) and hasn't got a large estate with rat runs and a pub that has been burnt out after years of being a bit of a dive. Having said that I lived happily in Bentley for years and I turned out okay I guess.
Rushall Olympic are a good club though and The Manor Arms is a fantastic boozer for a pre or post match pint - they even do Jennings Cocker Hoop on draft!

Actually, Will, there is no such thing as "Council Housing" in Walsall, any more, in Bentley, Rushall or anywhere else in the Borough, for that matter - it's all been bloody privatised. Social housing is now supplied and maintained by Housing Associations (WHG) and Tenant Management Organisations.
I agree with your comparisons of the two areas, though, having worked in both.

Re: 23/7/08 - Stafford Rangers (a)
This from a friend of mine who is a Stafford Rangers fan (but we won't hold that against him!!)
Obviously a lesser Walsall side as you played Aston Villa the night before. Some names of players I had heard off such as DeMontiaq, and allegedly you had Patrick Suffo playing under an alias. Gilmartin, your keeper left a lot to be desired who was hopelessly at fault with our second goal to give us a 20 lead. You pulled one back before half time before a second half sub made the difference. Nick Chadwick was introduced at half time and headed your equaliser and scored the penalty which gave you the win, although Gilmartin's butter fingers nearly "handed" us an equaliser late on. A good work out for both sides. Stafford looked sharper first half and deservedly lead but regular changes second half plus superior fitness saw Walsall take control.
The interesting link is your sub, Chadwick who is an ex Everton and Plymouth striker coming back from a serious injury. He is looking for a club to keep up his fitness. The interesting fact is that Nick's father Colin Chadwick, was a former Stafford Rangers winger from the 70's who was there last night to see his son play, so it was great to talk with an old legend over a pint after the match.

Match report with starting line-ups.
Keegan Ayre started, the other names I don't recognise could be trialists but I presume were first years.
Over to you Leam......Pedagogue. :D

It appears Gilmartin has a mare again. Worrying, as our only back up to Incy.

Gosh, I never realised how seriously inter-area banter was taken these days. Still, despite everything else, Bentley's better than Rushall. And it's definitely better than Willenhall.

As chief spokesman for Rushall, I can safely say it's better than Bentley. And Willenhall. Put together. :D
