Will be interesting to see which of the trialists play in this game.
Villa may not put out as strong a team as they normally do due to their involvement with the Intertoto Cup.

They only put their reserves out, last season, and they still won comfortably!

Last season it was 1-1, Boertian own goal and a late Paul Hall equaliser. The season before we lost 5-0

Well, after watching the first team huff and puff and look very tired in the Intertoto, that's all you'll be getting.

Couldn’t give a monkeys about the game to be honest we could field a team f aliens and I still wouldn’t bother going down to the match until we get some other teams to play against and not the usual suspects that just don’t inspire me at all.

Re: 22/7/08 - Aston Villa (h)
I'm giving it a miss. After 4/5 consecutive pre season games between us and going to all of them i'm bored of it. If we had made lots of signings and we were going to be fielding a full strength side i may have considered it but i'm not paying £12 to watch our reserves, i did it last year and it was dire.
Watch out for Salifou, his name will be sung throughout aswell as he's the new darling of the Holte End (mainly because he's laughably rubbish :D )
Delfouneso is our 'next big thing' and he should be starting tonight so he's the one to keep an eye on

I'll be there...O'neil was on about the fitness of his team after the intertoto first leg on saturday..maybe he'll field a few of the big names for 30 minutes just to increase fitness a little... :D

Re: 22/7/08 - Aston Villa (h)
I will be watching the attendence with great interest.
We all know our glorious chairmans prediction of 6,000-7,000 is divorced from reality, wether bonser admits it or not, a poor attendence is direct communication to the Walsall board that they cannot live until January on 4 signings. Mattis and Zaboub may have helped flog the kits, but the words 'band-aid' and 'tumour' come to mind.
Maybe Im a moaner, or maybe the attendence at the coming games will prove we need more than 4 new players in before we can be expected to drum up excitment.

I have baby-sitting tonight or I would have gone along
Can't see us beating the midlands second worst underachievers - but that is not the real point.
Of more interest is how tight our defence is and whether we really have any attacking options up front.
A 3 - 2 loss would give me confidence for the season

Pedantic as it may sound, SkySports News keep referring to the ground as 'the Bescot'.
Also, with the Gareth Barry fiasco getting all the headlines, many would be forgiven for forgetting who Villa are even playing.
It'll probably finish 0-0. :P

There's a guy on the bench called Keegan Ayre. Didn't recognise the name so I've googled. Could this be him?
