It will be an emotional return for Jimmy Mullen to see all those cars at keys park that he flogged before leaving.

The prices given on OS are for the seats only! Are there any prices for standing up yet or do we have to phone Hednesford up?

According to reports from the ground, we won 3-0. Two goals from Ishy and a penalty from Nicholls.
I was informed we had 5 trialists on the field in the first half, one being Anthony Grant and another, Chris Palmer (Although reports are not concrete on this player).
Second half, Stephen Cooke came on.
Checking wikipedia Grant (midfielder) was released from Chester, Palmer (midfielder) was released from Wycombe and Cooke (midfielder) currently plays for Halesowen.
I dare say people that were there can give you the details.

I thought it was Anthony Grant from Chelsea?!? Number 8 in the middle. Used to be on loan at Wycombe.

Hednesford Town 0 3 Walsall
Played at Keys Park
Walsall (1st half)
Clayton Ince
Chris Palmer
Dwayne Mattis
Anthony Gerrard (Capt.)
Netan Sansara
Marco Reich
Mark Bradley
Anthony Grant
Sofiane Zaaboub
George Ba
Jabo Iberhe
----------------------------------------
Walsall (2nd half)
Rene Gilmartin
Richard Davies
Tom Schwartz (I thought that he had been released at the end of last season?)
Manny Smith
Hassan Bacchus
Steven Cooke
Charlton Davies
Mark Lowe (youth team apprentice)
Ishmel Demontagnac
Troy Deeney
Alex Nicholls
Goal log:-
53rd min. – 0-1 – Nicholls upended in the Pitmen’s area and he gets up to convert the penalty.
70th min. – 0-2 – Ishy kept his head when all around were “flapping” and panicking, to coolly slot the ball home.
73rd min. – 0-3 – Another sparkling Ishy effort, superbly placed home after an individual run (why can’t he do that more often?)
Absent from the line-up, today, were Roberts, Weston, Boertien and Taundry while Harris was an unused substitute.
Triallists (in red) used – I will leave others to offer their assessments!

Two in the first half, actually - Gerrard and Bradley, although Gerrard's tan was very deep! :D

Re: 12/7/08 - Hednesford Town - away
If someone could explain why we only let the trialists have 45 minutes, I'd like to know the answer?
The Number 8 in first half looked really useful - think it was Grant.
Our beloved gloved Frenchie played well despite taking the worst free kick in the history of football.
I've seen enough of Jabo to know he is not the answer - missed three sitters in the first half. Donkey - get rid.
Gilmartin's handling was shocking, we definitely need a 'proper' reserve keeper.
Overall good work out. If we'd had any sort of finisher on in the first half we'd have got 10.

I hope we sign Ba - at £1 a letter, I may splash out to get his name on my shirt. Hope they give him a single-digit squad number too.

Re: 12/7/08 - Hednesford Town - away
For what it's worth (it was after all only 45 minutes) I thought Grant was quite tidy and impressive and thought he was the ex Chelsea player who played against us for Wycombe. Also liked Mark Lowe but no idea where he is from. Would like to see both of them in another game.
I couldn't tell Ba from Jabo - both have a similar game (and build) and dont think there is a place for both. Where is Ba from?
Marco Reich (ex Derby?) looked like he couldn't be bothered for 30 minutes and thought he was above it all. Then he didn't waste a ball for the last 15 minutes and found the gloved winger with ease. Looked a touch over weight and not the most mobile of wide right players?
Steven Cooke (presumably ex Villa and Bournemouth) looked lightweight, more mobile than Reich but I wasn't convinced.
Chris Palmer (no idea where he is from) had no help from Reich and maybe a touch on the small side for a full back - but looked a decent footballer.
Nothing like making instant decisions after 2 weeks pre season training and 45 minutes action :!: :)

Alex Nicholls penalty on video:

Good game for a friendly. Impressed with quite a few of the trialists.
Ishmel is quality footballer, has to take his chance this season.

Did somebody REALLY write this after a player has played one pre-season friendly?! Extraordinary...

This is UTS, Ian!
At the moment he's the best triallist, bar none?

Worth a dip into the transfer budget.
