Huddersfield (h) - League - 29th January 2005

Fri Jan 28, 2005 8:32 am

Ok I'll start us off, how ya reckon we will do?

Forever the eternal optimist, I think we will bounce straight back and beat them by at least 3 goals, probably 4-1

Fryatt out, Jorge out, Standing possibly out, Emblen not fully fit, Roper out? Easy win.

Unfortunately, I didn't like the feeling of this match before Tuesday night as I thought Huddersfield looked handy at their gaff.

They've got Chris Brandon back from suspension, who ran us ragged that night whilst Luke Beckett has come in on loan and scored twice for them against Bournemouth last weekend.

I'm going for a 1-2 scoreline I'm afraid. I don't think our lot have the bottle required and no doubt there will also be a section of fans waiting for them to fail, making it even worse.

I'll go for the usual routine, Merse and Emblen have both promised us a performance, so we'll play cack for the first 20 minutes or so, go 1 down, suddenly start playing either side of half time scoring two goals, then hang of for the last 30 minutes by the skin of our teeth for 'in the words of Merse' a well deserved win.

4-1 we will go 1-0 up, yes you heard me right 1-0 and then conceed two quick goals the fans will get restless and the floodgates will open. I always back a walsall win but I really cant see it Abbott caused us plenty of problems at their place and now theyve ot beckett aswell, we are in deep trouble!

Not comfortable enough to change my mind. First home game I missed all season and Mick Kearns said it was the best in 3 years. We cannot concede 3 at home however and i'm not sure that this is a turnaround

I didn't get more the a seconds from the broadcast so something must have failed in their systems.
I could listen to other matches without any problems.

Saddlersworld commentary worked fine for me. Dropped out a couple of times and re-buffered but other than that was fine.

The first 15 minutes was awful. Julian Bennett put in the worst defensive performance i had ever seeen during the first half. He just lost all track of anything. Zigor decided he didn't want to mark. Emblen didn't want to move and Wright couldn't kick the ball.

Que the best 70 minutes of football of the season so far. Wonder goals, trojan like performances and Merson at his best. Inspiring, cajoling and dictating. Krissy Taylor and Matt Fryatt a differant class. Jorge Leitao was amazing.

Up The Saddlers indeed.

Not long back from the match, I was thinking with us being 2-0 down after 10 mins we were going to concede a cricket score, Bennett was at fault for all of their goals, not the best game for him.
Good to see the fans even with us being 2-0 down singing and getting behind the team
It was a rollercoaster ride, with end to end stuff, for the neutral supporter a cracking match to watch, for supporters nail biting.
The team showed determination and team spirit, which made the difference, instead of their heads dropping they fought hard. Defence first half was awful, I could here Clown music in my head, but second half seemed a lot more composed.
All our goals from open play were fantastic, Matty's first has got to be amongst goal of the season. Glad he got a hat trick, fantastic to come back a win,
Here's hoping we can continue in the same vein
Well done the Lads!!!!! :D
