1-1. I've no confidence that our defence will receive the protection it needs from midfield, but it's about time our solitary effort on goal was converted, purely by the laws of average.

I'm going for a hopeful 2-1 on the basis that Tranmere don't travel well. It's a big game for both clubs, and I hope we don't get caught out by the fact that this game has the potential of making or breaking our season. Holmes and Bradley for us, Greenacre for them.

I was very pleasantly surprised when I went to Tranmere for the first time (the day of the late Michael Ricketts penalty equaliser, after he had spent the whole game missing sitters), didn't looked like an area where car stealing went on. Where I parked mine was a very salubrious looking street, with absolutely huge houses, very nice!

Do you think visitors think the same about the Delves?

Walsall 0-7 Tranmere

Constable (3), M. Wright (3) and Micky Cecere for them.

Money to blame the fans and a mouse that ran across the pitch (although many believed it was David "diddy" McDermott at the time) which the ball bobbled over for the first goal and changed the fortunes.

I was there that day also. "Ten men, we only need ten men!" Didn't like the away seating allocation though. We were sat about two seats away from a bunch of nasty scally type teenies.

You're right about the area though. Its quite leafy and pleasant.

One thing is for sure no blame can be laid at the feet of the special one!

One thing I did note though was that Tranmere have won twice as many games at home as we have, but that could in no way be a reason for fans at Walsall to be quieter than fans at Prenton Park.

Darren Wrack will go on a pacey mazy run, box to box, chipping it over the goalkeeper with superb technque that will make Ronaldo jealous.

Betsy with the Brave header near post.

Moore to score, because he will actually touch the ball.

Mooney will manage to score from 3 centimetres.

Roper will mark their pacey striker to perfection, and not sit on him when he gets past him, and play a raking through ball for moore's goal.

Deeney will get a goal too, he will of learnt to shoot straight, and actually get into a shooting position!

Dobson will be able to pass 30 yards to mooney with pin point precision.

We will simply be on fire, soaking up pressure then hitting them on the break with sheer pace and agility. Liverpool will copy our formation, and they will actually challenge the top 3 sometime soon

I predict that Charlie Ntamark will get an own goal, Evran Wright will have a new hair doo, Rod McDonald will headbutt their keeper and Scott Ollerenshaw will bag a brace in a 7-2 defeat. Tranmere's goals will come from John Aldridge (all 7) and Richard Money will accept responsibility for our defeat. Well, one of these will never happen

Walsall Nil Tranmere 0

Decent crowd, who will sing sarcastic songs to Richard Money.

The fact that we have scored only three goals in the last six games without any input from midfield and upfront tells its own story  .

0-1.

Don't be silly, nobody sings any more in the ASBO2GO (A2G?) - you're much more likely to hear "Free weekend in Liverpool, linesman?" from behind the dugout.

Canuck on the 'Isn't it Funny?' thread wrote:We've allowed 80 shots in the last 7 games (41 in the last 3 - ouch). Would that have happened had Fox and Dann stayed? Of course the answer is that we'll never know, but I don't think it's a stretch to say that the number would have been significantly less had they stayed. Our defence was our strength. Our only strength, one could say.

Prior to the F&D sale we had 15 clean sheets in the previous 27 games (55.5%)
Since F&D left we've had 3 clean sheets in 11 games (27.2%)

I agree we're poor up front, but times were that we had every chance of a point even if we didn't score. Now, we basically need at least one goal to get anything from the game. It makes a big difference.

EDIT: So a 'rough and ready' calculation is that we would have achieved three more clean sheets with F and D (at around 55% of games) had they stayed. Even if we hadn't scored, that's an extra three points on where we are now. That would put is a better postion.

All statistical mumbo-jumbo, I know - but it is a hypothesis that has some credence, in my view.
