yes if we are serious about making a promotion push .

If we're serious about making a promotion push we need to be strengthening the squad this week.

if DD wants another striker or midfielder he will sign them , Bonser has backed DD every inch of the way since he took over .
the squad was strengthened at the right time last season when we topped the league. why should this term be any different.

Agree, it shouldn't be. The transfer window is just ebbing away though & still nothing sorted with Ricketts, but a lot can happen in nearly a week I suppose.

Anything other than a win will be disappointing, but i don't think we're in for an easy ride.

I'll go 2-1, Mooney and Bradley to score.

Team news:

01 Ince
02 Weston
05 Gerrard
06 Roper
23 Boertien
22 Sonko
07 Wrack
18 Bradley
16 Holmes
10 Mooney
19 Deeney

Substitutes
13 Bossu, 08 Dobson, 17 Nicholls, 21 McDermott, 26 Taundry

Looks a pretty standard 442 to me, although you could play it 451 with Deeney playing off Mooney or as a very attacking midfielder which he has done once or twice this season.

No Mick Kearns on Saddlersworld. Bliss.

Mystic Norfolk Saddler says a resounding 3-0 win with Roper scrambling a thirty yarder, give or take 29.5 yards, to open the scoring.

We sound like we've started the 2nd half very lively.

Sonko getting a lot more involved in recent weeks.

C'mon Eddy!

Excellent result. Sounded like a nice solid performance although im sure Money will be annoyed wiht concedeing a late goal

It's nice to see Sonko playing as well as he is, and Mooney's return was only going to help us.

Another great victory, well deserved. We started slowly but got up a head of steam in the end.

Dobson was awful when he came on, Roper struggled, but apart from that we were excellent.

The goal they scored was possibly the best i've seen at bescot, an absolute arrow in to the top corner.

Sonko had another good game, so did Deeney although Denney, like Nicholls needs to work on his final ball and finishing, he does some tremendous hard work, wins headers, turns well, but just lets himself down when he comes to pass it or finish it.

A words for the officials - the 3 of them managed to put on the worst, most inept display of officialdom i've seen in a long time, they were terr-i-f*cking-ble. The ref was picky and made a lot of poor decisions early on, but improved as the match went on, but the two linesmen - ?? where did they get those pair from? Were they in the queue at Specsavers? Gawd, the one on the Bankss stand side got about 4 offside decisions wrong, including one when Sonko was clearly around 2 yards behind the defender!! On the Txt Stand side the linesman simply didn't have any idea which way any throw should have gone. When the ball cannons off a Gillingham player and out for a throw, and the whole ground and most of flipping wednesbury have heard the ball cannon off the Gillingham player and the balls trajectory has changed consistent with the cannon, and the linesman then gives Gillingham the throw, its unbelievable. Terrible officials.

Anyway, £400k richer, lets hope we use some of it and build from a strong position. But I doubt it.

recent memory says Deeney set up nicholls at yeovil (laid the ball off) , sonko against donny (won ball in the corner and crossed it), did he not put the cross in for the goal today as well ?

Not to much wrong in my opinion. Everyone can improve though.

Yes it was Deeney who put the cross in. He's very good 90% of the time, he's just lacking a bit a class in his final ball sometimes. A bit like Jorge was, he'd do the hard stuff well then fall at the last hurdle.

Are you not being a bit harsh on Nichols & Deeney? They're both young lads, with plenty to learn. If they're doing 90% right already then that's a good sign. Don't forget Jorge was in his 20's when he came to us.
Good win today, waiting for my dad to phone me with the match report now!

I think for 60-70% of the game we went through the motions today.

We played within our comfort zones for vast parts of the game and when we did step it up we created chances and had 5 genuine efforts where there players, the keeper or the woodwork prevented more goals.

I don't think any one player played above his normal level, yet i don't think anyone was vastly below par.

Mooneys quality was evident in the hour or so he was on and i think proved to be the differance today he could unlock them at the back.

I don't usually comment on Refs but this one was a fickle old pickle today. Liked to get involved and wave his arms around a lot.

A niggly stop start game where the team with the quality came through. Reminded me a bit of the Port Vale game over Christmas where we muddled through it but obviously a differant result.

Job done.

Another goal for the struggling Gambian, poor Sun Tan Man cheap signing. As predicted, he's come good.

Very comfortable until Dobson came on and started to do what he's best at, chasing shadows. We lost possession many times for balls he should have won or hesitate too long, including leading up to the goal. Bradley needs resting I agree but only if Dobson is match fit which he clearly isn't. He can get match fit in the reserves instead of playing like that for me.

Deeney was clearly knackered as early as the second half but still kept running. Nicholls first touch wasn't great when he came on but it's an option, especially now Mooney is back and Ricketts will be too.

Two more important games coming up. 4 points would be nice, 6 would be fantastic, 2 would be acceptable in my opinion against sides around us in the table.

Thought we lost control of the game when Bradley went off we defended to deep at times our second goal came just at the right time . Dobson clearly not match fit give him time.
Deeney impressed , Sonko continues to improved . Holmes showed touches of real quality . Boertein look like he'd never been out the side .

A joy to watch. Money is the best manager Walsall have had in the last 50 years. I hope Jeff can get him to stay at Walsall for a few more years.
