Reserves v. Coventry City 9/1/08

Wed Jan 09, 2008 11:49 pm

Saddlers 1 1 Sky Blues

(played at Tamworth F.C.)

Attendance:- not announced

Walsall (4-4-2)

Bertrand Bossu

Richard Taundry
Ian Roper
Manny Smith (Captain)
Paul Boertien

Martin Brittain (Cameron Jones, 73 minutes)
Charlton Davies (Richard Davies, 73 minutes)
Yankuba Ceesay (Jamie Silver, 45 minutes)
Paul Hall

Chris Hanna
David McDermott

Unused substitutes:-
Dexter Ravenhill
Alan Wilkes

Manager:- Jimmy Mullen

Goal Log:-
3rd minute - 0-1 - sloppy defending let in Robbie Simpson for the opener.
57th minute - 1-1 - a goalmouth scramble let in Roper for a well-deserved equaliser.

Sinner List:- 88th minute - Boertien cautioned for unsporting behaviour (foul)

Comments:-
Good to see Boertien get another 90 minutes (getting closer to a first team return) but no sign of Michael Dobson, yet. No idea who the triallist, Ceesay, is! He was nothing special and was withdrawn at half-time.
There was a switch-around at the interval - Taundry moved to left-back with Silver coming on at right-back. Boertien moved into central midfield while Hall and Brittain swapped wings.
Coventry were good value for their interval lead as they had dominated the first half proceedings, while kicking down the Kettlebrook slope. However, just like the first team, 24 hours previously, the super Saddlers rallied strongly in the second period and were well on top. Unfortunately, they only managed Roper's goal to show for it. Whatever else has happened under the Dicky Dosh régime, there is no doubt that Walsall teams now battle right until the final whistle.

Well done Pedagogue.

Glad to see you summed that up as I expected: Cheesy is dogplop and Taundry makes him look as poop as his YouTube effort.
Nice to see Roper scoring against his faves and Boertien playing full 90 minutes too.

Ravenhill and WIlkes aren't getting much of a look in are they? A bit unfortunate as they sound quite promising.

An interesting prelude to an FAC4 encounter perhaps? Same score again for the seniors?

"Boertien moved into central midfield". That's interesting, as he did play in midfield for Derby on occasions.

He also did against Wolves reserves. And has done at Millwall tonight by the sound of things.

I wonder whether he is related to one of the Gippo's that used to park their caravans in the field behind our old family home in Clayhanger ['Caddick House' if anyones interested] in the sixties?

Possibly. Despite his posts suggesting the contrary, pikey himself did claim to be an adult of sufficient years to be a possible candidate/culprit.

No text alerts available (as yet) Cully - perhaps a niche for someone to exploit, JB?
