I really need to practice my typing. How people can put the ball back in the centre circle and then get it back in the net before i can type a few words is embarassing   :D

Correct, if someone else posts onto the thread while you are writing your message, once you submit it will go into preview, so that you can check that you are not repeating what they have just written.

Sounds like another good performance - soaking up pressure when necessary / hitting the opposition on the break and taking the opportunities when they present themselves.

To be fair i can never see the point of not letting them play. If they don't want the player, why stop him playing against you. All clubs do their homework on teams so it isn't as if he could give our team some info about their players nobody else knows or somehow make our team that little bit better to beat them.
If it was a player coming back from injury and just getting fit, maybe then it would be different :?
Inside information hadn't even occurred to me as a reason not to play him. He could provide that without playing anyway. I just don't see why you'd want to make it any easier for the opposition. Without Ricketts today we'd have had to play Deeney (much less experienced if nothing else) up front. That would have made it harder for us. The way I see it, it can't be a bad thing to reduce your opponent's options - and players who aren't on the pitch don't score goals against you!

Re: Oldham Athletic (A) League 1 Saturday 29/12/07
I'm not one to jump on the bandwagon and get carried away with the odd good result, but I really am feeling good about this season and fully believe we can make the playoffs after that result.
To go away to face a side playing some good stuff, scoring goals and unbeaten in 11 games and keep a clean sheet in the progress really is excellent. Then to score 2 goals of our own just makes things perfect.
By all accounts Taundry was excellent again and we were able to more than cope without Mooney who has been making us tick all season. On paper, we don't have enough depth to the squad, but that would be to underestimate the young players who are really making their mark. A couple of additions in January might ease the strain I expect the squad to go through at some point soon, but are arguably not essential because the team is doing so well as it is.
Oldham must be kicking themselves for letting Ricketts play against them.

I think 6th is right barring any late goals. Excellent position after the start to the season.

Re: Oldham Athletic (A) League 1 Saturday 29/12/07
An absolutely stunning result, arguably the best result of the season IMHO. :D
It's hard to see how you can do better than win away from home against a team in good form and on a long unbeaten run of their own, and with Lee Hughes coming into good goal-scoring form recently. The lads have proved me well and truly wrong today, and it sounds like we have been denied a certain penalty and were still taking the game to Oldham in the closing stages, with Ricketts hitting the post with a 20 yard screamer late on.
Super stuff, awesome, well done the lads!
