Just got back.

Well, Crud game, they played better than us first half without really testing the goalkeeper.

Ishy went down easy, but i wasnt complaining cause i couldnt freeze to death in extra time.

Ref was crud, linesman blind. Job done.

1 defeat in 15
5 straight clean-sheets at home
6 clean-sheets in last 7
and 10 clean-sheets now this season.

You missed a couple:
22 (and a half) - average age of the 10 outfield players that finished the match
6 - number of those 10 who came through our youth system.

Boresall 1 Northampton 0

Walsall were terrific tonight, they totally outplayed their opponents, had the majority of possesion and the Northampton keeper was totally inundated with literally one shot - god knows how he coped.

Once again Sonko was man of the match, managing to put in a perfect wingers performances beating his man lots of times and putting in loads of crosses for the ever lively Michael Ricketts.

Northampton, just like Boresalls previous opponents at the Bescot didn't have the better of the game, didnt create more chances, and really shouldn't have won the game, Boresall really taught them a lesson.

Now those really are delightful statistics.
Who do you give the credit to for that? DD has brought them in, gently and very successfully - but who built the youth team(s) in the first place?
:D :?:

It is, but they should have won that tonight, and Forest should have won last Tuesday. Thats two awful home performances, two games we should have lost.

You should, indeed, look for positives out of every situation.

I like to see the brain as a train set in a toy shop window. As the train comes around the track towards the window this represents your conscious mind. As it passes the window around the track and moves away from the window and enters the tunnel at the back of the shop, this represents your unconscious mind. I like to try and only think postive thoughts when the train is passing the window, so that when it goes into the tunnel, or the unconscious mind, it takes the postives in there with it.

If you do this phil, soon the positives will fill your unconcious mind, or the tunnel ha ha, and will manifest themselves more and more in the cocnscious mind, without your continued input of positive thoughts. Hey give it a try, you never know.

Some positives to take out of this: The defence (incuding Clayton) were immense, Ishy looked a more rounded and temperate player coming off the bench and the team battled really well.

Some negatives : I don't want to be harsh but when Sonko was on the pitch it felt like we had 9 outfield players. The referee was dreadful and even set up an attack for N'hampton. The linesman needs to get down to specsavers and Ricketts was far too deep at times to get onto crosses/flick ons.

I genuinely feel our defence is the match of any team we are going to face this season. Northampton couldn't find a way to score so they tried to resort to cheating and unsporting behaviour when Dann was down injured in their box.

On another note Deeney was unlucky to be ruled offside when he was 1 on 1 with the T*** goalkeeper Bunn.

I'm happy with the result that might have gone the other way but this is football!

Congratulations to Chasetown aswell.

Yes it was a crap game on a cold night. But lets face it, we have played them 3 times in 2 weeks... the players looked as bored as we were (both sets). We played poorly, but we ground out a result and keep our run going.... smile FFS !

But the good thing is, at least you're balanced. Because when we should have beaten Crewe at the weekend and ended up drawing 0-0 then you pointed out that fact too.

Oh no, my mistake - you didn't. That's because there is no pleasing Negative Phil.

Went to the game tonight & if Northampton's strikers could actually shoot properly they may well have won the game but couldn't care less, we won & that's good enough for me.

Weston was great first half

Ince was his usual great self

Ant and Dann were great

Fox was great

It was a cold match and the Cobblers had far more chances than we did

Ishi scared them to bits and he was clearly either going to score or get brought down in the box

Ricketts put the pen away without trouble

They missed a sitter from about a yard right on full time

This is the FA cup and getting through to the next round (which is very winable) was the objective

Job done

Of the 3066 people who were there I doubt anyone would have described this as a good match, but about 2900 of us think it is a great result

(Oh - and thanks for the Worthers Originals Leamore. My shout next time)

Sounds like he was there. And I've got no problem if he thinks we played badly - even though we won. I wasn't there, I can't argue any different. But it does look a bit one-eyed if he says we were 'fortunate' to beat Forest and Northampton but doesn't comment about being 'unfortunate' to draw with Crewe.
