Generally a right back but I think can, and has, played a bit at centre back, although he isn't the tallest. I think he could be quite a good player. He's one of the youngsters who've played quite a lot for the reserves in the last season or so.

can play Right or Left I think but he's been playing right back for the reserves.

We've defo gone above huddersfield. Just outside the play offs I think.

After that, I'd expect us to mount a serious championship challenge

Seriously, well done lads, I'm currently finishing the Red wine and thinking of excuses to get myself to Tranmere on Friday.

just got back in and picked up from exactly where we left off in the second half at Donny. We absolutely mullered them.

Special mentions to Fox, Sonko, Bradley and Dobson they had Huddersfield chasing shadows, especially in the second half.

Yet again. The Midfield won us that game.

The ability of Gerrard and Dann to "play football" is also meaning we not hitting and hoping the ball gets up there.

I think we've stumbled over a pretty useful system.

I said time and time again we lacked pace and movement during pre-season. We were using Wrack, Fox and Hall in wide positions. With Dobson and Sonner down the middle. All of a sudden with Matis, Ishy, Sonko and Bradley we have some legs.

Hmmm. I was waiting for the first person to say that. Given that we won very well playing 4-4-2 at Hartlepool, I think that does the manager a bit of a dis-service. He changed it by design at Doncaster and today stuck with it, when he could have easilly have gone back to 4-4-2.

Also last season he switched to 4-5-1 against Mansfield and guess what?we won 4-0.

Credit where credit's due.

I say stumbled upon because of the Butler / Boertin / Sonner Situation.

Having only 1 senior Target Man = Mooney
Having to use Bradley / Mattis = Sonner
The release of Ishy = Boertin.

I think the players available have to an extent dictated the system.

But as I say, they didn't dictate the situation at hartlepool, who were at home and 3rd when we played them. While I agree to an extent, the manager has made decisions and he deserves the praise in equal measure to the critisism he gets when he gets it wrong - eg playing Deeney in midield lasty home game etc.

... and if Butler hadn't decided to forcibly eject the toys from the pram, we'd likely have gone 4-4-2 these last two games.

Cheers, Martin! Best contribution you've made/will make this season!

I'm still waiting for the mythical "exciting strikeforce".

Where are the goals going to come from? And unless someone can find me 4 worse teams than us pretty quick I'm going to have a panic attack.

Sid - just let us get on with crowing - you will have your day again when we lose. If you want entertaining winning football - it is back at Bank's - better get to a game soon!

Awesome today - Sonko looks so happy to be with us - he looked star struck when we were chanting his name.

Full credit to Ishy, kept his temper, and then got revenge in the best way by making the most of a hardsh tackle to get him sent off.

MOM was a difficult one as it could have gone to most of the team. The youngsters are looking great. Gerrard stood out in defence. Mooney and Sonko linked really well in attack. Mattis was all over the pitch. Weston was awesome  with some cracking crosses and attacking play.

I am definitely a happy Walsall fan at the moment, and now the bad apples have been removed from the bottom of the tree, we look like we can really make something of this season.

What like at Hartlepool? or the several games at the start of the season when Butler was ill and we played 4-4-2????????

And if you read my post mid-week Sid, I said if you want exciting football to get down to the Banks's, so its not with the benefit of hindsight. If you missed today its all your own fault. 8)

My thoughts FWTAW..

Ince - nothing to do, could have stayed at home.
Weston - his best game so far, played with confidence both in defence and going forward
Gerrard - Solid
Dann - See Gerrard - the two of them stood firm and won almost everything in the air
Fox - most improved player this season IMO, another good performance today
Ishy - Did well, not as many tricks as usual, but used the ball well and stayed disciplined despite Sinclairs best efforts.
Bradley - My MOTM - covered every inch of the pitch and chipped in with the important 3rd goal
Dobson - Did what he does best, sat a little deeper than Bradley and Mattis and was the glue that held the midfield together - almost MOTM
Mattis - Similar to Bradley - the two of them worked really hard and well together - a good understanding of where to be and when, very impressed and he too could have won MOTM
Sonko - Class finish for his goal, gives us the pace and quality we have been missing, he will get a few goals this season IMHO, a willing runner and always wants the ball - cant wait to see how good he is with food!
Mooney - Captain fantastic, held the ball up well and with a little more luck could have put Sonko through a couple more times. His energy levels are great - never mind his age - doesn't matter when you put in that amount of effort. Seems to relish being captain too.

My final thought is that the team made me PROUD today - UTS.
