Just got back in (performance like that is defintely worth celebrating) and I'm very glad to say that the people who've been to the last three away games were spot on. Absolutely fantastic performance today - the best I've seen at Bescot for several years (quite possible since the Albion 4-1 game). Easily as good as Oldham was bad the other week. Huddersfield weren't a bad side (nailed on for mid-table I'd say) and we absolutely took them apart - could have several more goals with a bit of luck. No team in this league could live with us if we were to play like that every week (which, unfortunately, is unlikely to happen as I think injuries and suspensions will hit us hard over the winter as the squad is very thin at the moment).

Some quality passing football throughout too. It's hard to pick out individuals, but young Mark Bradley really impressed me today. First time I'd seen him play 90 minutes since his debut (too early under Merson), but he looks the real deal. Constantly in motion, making himself available for every pass and linking up play fantastically between the midfield and attack. I've been saying we need a box-to-box midfielder since the start of the season - and it looks like he might have been under our noses all the time!! Mattis had a quietly effective game in there too and between him and Bradley they freed up space for Dobson to sit a bit deeper and really dictate the game. He looked like the player he was at the start of last season, spreading passes all over the park and making a few crunching tackles whenever Huddersfield threatened - and when they got past him Dann had Beckett in his pocket.

Sonko looked excellent too, but I'm sure others will have plenty to say about him. He's definitely going to be a fans favourite - the best out-and-out winger we've had at the club possibly since Harper's first spell.

Biggest plus of the day (and there were many to choose from) was the number of young players on the pitch at the end. All the outfield players apart from Hall were in their 20's I believe - and 6 of them 21 or under. And what's more, none of them looked out of place (and Bradley looked like he'd been playing at this level - and above - for years) Whatever happens this season, the presence of those players at the club means that we have a very, very bright future.

Was that really Richard Taundry on the bench? He looked a right fat f*cker!!!

My thoughts on yesterday , First a word of caution we are going to play against much better side than Huddersfield this season , they looked very average I'd would go as far as to say very poor at times they never threatend our back 4 , I very much doubt our keeper and defenders will have an easier days work .
But lets taking nothing away from what was a brilliant team performance , our football at times took me back to the Buckley era , yes it was that good.
Pick of the players Weston quality linked up very well with the brilliant Sonko , Dobson showed exacltly why we have missed him , he and Mattis compliment each other to great effect , Bradley very promising performance he got better the more the game went on .
Mooney my MOTM , can't praise him enough outstanding performance . won evrything superb first touch tireless running , eat your heart out Butler thats how a centre forward should play.
Every player stood out , the togetherness and spirit fills me with confidence , a super performance .

:) everything that could be said, has been.
A truly great performance, helped by the way Hudeer's played - they were very narrow with little or no width and Dann and Gerrard coped really well with the arial stuff.
Friday will be a test.

What a completely dominant, unexpected performance (well from my point of view as wasn't there to see second half at Donny!).

Going into ground, i thoght about last time we played Huddersfiled and how dominant they were and speculated upon whether it was they who were so good, or we were just rubbish and had fallen on the side of the latter, given that the same Huddersfield side in League 1 did little last year.

However, i cannot say that today-it is my belief that although Huddersfield were poor, we made them look poor and was most complete home performance since Peterborough last year. I think Huddersfield have one of the best lower league strikers in Beckett and he didn't have a sniff against our central two who look to be gelling well together. Fullbacks were fantastic and Weston looks to have maybe started to settle and Fox had one of the best games i have seen for the club.

The midfield quintet were awesome-if there is a blade of grass that Bradley didn't cover, i'd be surprised and he showed to be perfect foil to Dobson who i think gave one of best performances since Kinsella left. Mattis surprised me as i did't expect much from him when he signed and yet he played ball simply and intellgently. Ish, was quietish but effective and his reaction to Frank Sinclair in the first half, (Mr Sinclair who is old enough to know better), was mature.

First real long glimpse of Sonko and oh my god.......pace, guile, skill and took his goal well. And what a thoroughly decent bloke-applauding us half way through second half.

Mooney-well is he really 36?? Run his heart and could have carried on for the full 90.

I am taking it with a pinch of salt as people have said, we will play better teams than Huddersfield and did in the shape of Carlisle in my opinion. We killed them today in the style i thought back to Graydon's team of 2000-2001 who when a couple up, hit 5 on a few occasions-Swansea, Notts County and Wycombe if i remember right.

Looked at that team when all subs had been made and there was only 1 player we had really pursued in Paul Hall-the rest were either discards (Gerrard, Fox, Mattis, Ince, Weston, Dobson) or our produce (Deeney (i know he's a sort of discard), McDermott, Dann, Bradley). This is a team with something to prove and i was thoroughly proud of them yesterday and their reaction at full time showed their delight

and isn't it great to see the younger players being introduced gently and sparingly, keeping them hungry and fresh.

I'll not get too carried away with the win as I didn't with our earlier form but I ,think we're only going to get better. Lets enjoy the week and hope the team can keep it going.

Well done one and all.

Thank heavens Jimmy Mullen signed Sonko and Mooney, along with Boertien, Mattis also a decent signing of his, and it sounds as though Weston is starting to get to grips with things.

Thanks heavens Jimmy Mullen gave contracts to Ishy, Deeney, Bradley, Dann, McDermott etc. and has had the forsight and bravery to play them since day one this season.

Thank heavens Jimmy Mullen decided to change a winning team after Hartlepool, knowing that defeat would lead to the usual barrage of critisism from the budding Alex's.

Really delighted we got rid of that tosspot Dickie Dosh after the Oldham game and appointed Jimmy Mullen as manager, look what a difference its made??

Philthesaddler was right again, so enormous credit must go to him for the pressure he brought to bear on the board of Walsall FC using this messageboard as his arena of protest. It will be even better when STM goes at the end of the month following Jimmy Mullen's settling in period.

Meanwhile, momentarilly back in the real world, isn't it great to see so called "moaners" actually giving credit where it is undoubtedly due. One of the most positive things about the last week is the sense of togetherness that has at long last started to envelop the club and every one associated with it, management, supporters, players, etc. Not seen or heard for a long while.

.......Of course this would have never happend under Dickie Dosh.

I thought STM just signed Caneiro, wasn't it Jimmy Mullen that signed Sonko on the recomendation of Philthesaddler??

If only we'd sigend Sonko in the summer when that knacker Dickie Dosh was going on about how we should have patience with Son(ko)ner.

Geordie, you're more of a f*cking idiot that I initially thought if you can't see how different our performance was yesterday from anything ever seen under money. We passed and move, kept the ball - the ball hardly ever went over head height, we created dozens of chances.

But no, it's got nothing to do with the fact we've now got a formerly very successful manager now on the coaching team, nothing at all. It's just that all of a sudden it's all clicked in to place for Money. You're prejudice is reaching new heights. It was a brilliant performance, but it was completely different performance in so many ways, by denying that, you're just showing yourself up to be a complete idiot who's posts are more based on prejudice against me than any intelligent comment you may have about the game.

I'll repeat my questions;

How many times (under money) have we played two out and out wingers under money?

How many times (under money) have we used the wings so effectively?

How many times (under money) have we seen players moving all the time looking for the ball?

IT WAS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT TACTICAL PERFORMANCE, which is why we were so successful. But according to Geordie, a former title-winning manager on the coaching team has nothing to do with it.

Whatever, you moron.

You really are a baby.

Sonko, in fact any player, playing in a team that cant string passes together - like we were earlier this season will look piss poor. Look at Gerrard, looked out of his depth earlier this season, but in a well performing side, looks unbeatable, same goes for Dann.

There's been a massive improvement in the football we play, and hence average players are starting to look decent.

But of course, its all richard money's brainwave isn't it. I mean, I guess thats what he was trying to do against Oldham when he took sonko off, and brought Deeney on in the middle of the park.

Denying the different Mullen has quite clearly made is ridiculous. It's as clear as anything.

It still brings a smile to my face every time I think about Sonko's reaction to the crowd when we were chanting his name, and when he came up in the second half and applauded us.

The look on his face said it all - I think he loves us and we love him. I bet he did not expect that reaction when he came.

Roll on end of Ramadam and see what he is like with food in him.

He was the same on Tuesday night, great character and a sublime player.
I presume he had something to eat before Tuesday's game as it was a night match and I think he lasted 90 minutes? Therefore will be able to do the same on Friday night, able to drink water during the game also which is probably even more crucial.

yeah that was a great reaction from Sonko , I was praying for DD to bring him off after the heavy challange in the second half , it seemed to take a lot out of him , understandable I suppose.

Dave its a proven FACT that its the moaning fans that cause us to ultimately win matches.

The lack of moaning on here is therefore incredibly worrying.

Unless the moaning increases markedly by next Friday I can't see anything other than a defeat. I've done my best to get Phil monaing and I think I've succeeded up to a point, but I'm only one bloke.

So come on let's hear it before its too late....

Possible topics of conversation include:

1) Bonser's pension fund.
2) STM's poor summer signings
3) DD's negativity.
4) Ismel?? What hope has he got of playing when he only started 2 gamhes last season?
5) You win nothing with kids/old players.
6) so and so is finished. (Roper, Wrack, Hall, Mooney, etc) delete as appropriate.
7) The club shop
8) the ticket office
9) the poor quality replica kit.
10) Dobson is a centre-half.
11) The catch all "sort it out so and so" thread (Money/Bonser/Walsall FC/) delete as appropriate.
12) DD critisises fans.
13) Critisised fans reaction forum.
14) Ex-player blasts club
15) The exciting strikefore lie thread.
16) Ex-player doesn't blast club, but surely there must be more to it thread.
17) Ex-player praises club, but club didn't publically wish him well conspiracy theory.
18) Pension fund revisited, Tommy Mooney OAF (Old age footballer).
19) Jimmy Mullen, Hednesford to Real Madrid in 3 easy steps.
and finally if all else fails

20) Just start a thread about Allen Picken.

There, that should keep things going for a few days.

Isn't this all getting a bit silly now?

We're all on the same side, so can't we just enjoy yesterday for what it was rather than scoring silly points off one another?

:? :? :?

Every other thread?

I've nothing against silly tit for tat threads. I've been involved in plenty of them myself - but this one seems to be along the lines of "I'm a better fan than you because I always support the lads / I try to do something about our weaknesses [whinge mostly]." We're clearly all after the best for Walsall FC or we wouldn't be on here at all.
