1-0 win, Butler... Smash and grab win.

I notice Grimsby have lost Michael Reddy for 3 months, so can't imagine they've much up front.

We seem to be struggling at the moment, expect first defeat of the season.

A professional one nil win to the Saddlers. But I expect us to continue with this more defensive stance away from home. It seem's DD's preferred method currently. Hopefully that will change as the team grows in confidence.

Far be it for me to question the Great Man's tactics, but could this be a clue as to why we've been rubbish in the first half of the last two away games?

We should have enough firepower to make other teams worry about trying to contain us.

Exactly, and situations like Grimsby where 20 minutes good stuff from us would have the crowd on their backs for sure, sitting back is the last thing we should do. Invite pressure and allow the crowd to get behind them and the whole mood of the game changes. Tomorrow is a great opportunity to just go there and stuff them basically, they are crap and in complete disharmony, bit like us last season.

My thoughts exactly. We should be taking the game by the scruff of the neck from the kick-off.

The worrying this is Geordie, WP and dler is that I don't think it's Dosh's style which is why I came out Lincoln wondering whether it's worth going to Grimsby.

We shouldn't fear teams in this league. Take the game to them, have a good first half, then defend not the other way round.

I am going though but if the first half is as bad as Lincoln and Barnet I will question how many more away games I go to.

You could be right MMF - I don't want to totally admit it this early in the season though :(

DD has injected a much neede professionalism into the squad, but the apparent defensive mindset could be a problem. But am I asking too much for a Division Four manager? - Of course I am! I want Walsall to succeed! And succeed in style.

Well, sounds like the reverse of the previous games - start with an expansive line up but then revert to a more defensive one for the second half.

Doesn't sound like we've been very good, from the commentary.

Without wishing to be too negative, about 2 weeks ago and last week, I did say that there must be concerns about our lack of goalscoring prowess.

There was no way that our mean defensive performances were going to last all season, and we had to find a way of offering more of a scoring threat. Today was proof of that, we've scored just 10 goals in 7 matches, thats not enough for a team wanting to get promotion.

DD is clearly aware and hopefully will get something sorted, but at least todays result might go some way towards lowering the expectations of some folk who seem to think this year would be a walk in the park.

Pre-season I said I'd be happy with 8th or 9th, however I do think we're capable of at least a play off place if we find a 2nd goalscorer. If we can't find a 2nd scorer, I'd rather see Constable ahead of Sam when he is fit.
