Dons are losing. Lincoln are losing. Wycombe are drawing. Who cares what the Wolves are doing, it's our rivals that matter.

The late goals at Accrington and Swindon have gone our way.
Pity the Dongs got a late equalizer but they're only 5th.

So even if we lose next week we stay top, there's a proper gap emerging and a couple more wins and we will be well clear. At the minute we are the only team in top nine to win.

Notts County got a last minute goal against Torquay which moves them up with the pack of teams behind us!

1 Walsall 27 GD 17 won 4-0
2 Swindon 24 GD 7 drew 1-1
3 Wycombe 23 GD 7 lost 1-2
4 Lincoln City 23 GD 6 lost 0-2
5 Milton Keynes Dons 23 GD 5 drew 3-3
6 Notts County 23 GD 5 won 1-0

At least I think that's right.

So pre Christmas the Dongs, Wycombe, Notts and Swindon all visit The Bezla? Hmmmm opportunity knocks. Some big crowds and a real chance to put this division to bed. Nice to see a decent crowd today, also have we now got the best gd in Europe??

Almost. Lincolns GD is 5.

Hartlepool are in 7th, 5 points adrift, so the top 6 are already starting to pull away. With 3rd to 6th being settled on GD its a bit tight.
As Geordie says though we have the opportunity to get further ahead before Xmas.

Soccernet show Lincoln with a GD of 8 before today. They lost 2-0, so GD should be 6.

So we are effectively 10 points clear of Peterboro in 8th which represents play-off qualification. Considering most of us would have regarded play-offs as a successful season that really is incredible after 12 games, and as for the home recored I can't remember anything like it.

Is it time to get carried away yet?

Won £50 quid on 4-0, Whitley Bay somehow won through to the FA Cup 3rd Q Round, and my lass coming round in an hour for a boozy night out.

Carlsberg don't make Saturdays.....thank God!! If they did they would probably taste like gnats' piddle.

Important to note I reckon the points we scrambled at Lincoln, Barnet, and Shrewsbury are the difference between us and the rest of the chasing pack. Although at the time they didn't feel like fantastic results or performances it just goes to show how important it is to accumulate those kind of points then live to fight another day and push on.

Its all looking good. Still a long way to go, but I'm smiling tonight.

In addition, Swindon are having their fair share of problems, with resignations at board level and rumours of Dennis Wise moving to Leeds [they really do deserve each other]. Not to mention only one win in six.

And all this after Wise got manager of the month.

I hope Dicky Dosh doesn't get the award this month.

A Manager who can spot what needs to be done. We were poor first half - becasue they stiffled the midfield - we all raised our eyebrows when he subbed Sam for Pead - but it didn't take long to see why. I though Keates did OK - but Dobson was arguably better. The back 4 were solid as was Ince - Pead also did really well when he came on.

Dicky Dosh's barmy army.....

First half was bloody boring! There was nothin in the centre mid at all.

2nd half is a completley diffrent story! When pead come on..it made all the diffrence in the middle. Gave dobson more space and time on the ball..Keates and pead had the chance to attack more. Wrighty was susperb once again..He's cross for keatsy's goal was quality!! What a goal that was, best goal all game! Butler worked he's socks off yet again! 2nd half really the whole team was solid!

Good to see gerrard get he's 1st walsall goal..come at the right time i think. The ref was bloody awful! my god, but no moaning..we won 4-0 :)

The gap is starting to open up now. Another saturday evening..feeling good as a saddler! :D

I am very happy too with todays performance, especially second half, but i just wish the people of Walsall would get behind our team! We are top of the league, unbeaten at home, and havent even conceeded a goal yet at home! So why are we still only averaging 4500? whats happened to the other 1000 that used to come before Merson drove them away? What the hell does it take for them to return and give our team the backing they deserve? The club and fans should be doing everything in its power to bring the missing fans back, and give the lads the vocal backing like we had against Bolton! YES we do sing and cheer when we score, but if the missing fans came back, it would drive the team to even greater performances, (although thats hard to imagine) lets hope people start to realise that the good times are back!

Well, the first 45mins was probably one of the worst 45mins of football ive ever seen. We were terrible. Gerrard barely won a header, Keates never found a man, Wright was poor, Fox was annonymous, and as for Hector Sam, well call himself a striker? Twice Butler did the leg work and won the ball brilliantly, it was crying out for his strike partner to make an appearance in the 6 yard box, but where was he? day dreaming 30 yards out. Plonker.

Then, wow, what a masterstroke by Dickie. Put pead in the hole, and gave that number 4 something to think about, giving Keater and Dobbo time to bring the ball down and pass it, Wright suddenly found some confidence, and Butler more than deserved a goal.

Are we unbeatable at home in this league?

I honestly think we can be Phil if we play like we did second half for the rest of the season! At last we have a manager who has a knowledge of tactics, and how to change a game!

One the subject of attendances, I did'nt think the crowd was too bad. There must have been 5000 'home' fans there today. Even in M*****'s first season as a player we only averaged 6500 'home' fans. Sure, a few are missing, but not as many as you suggest. And, don't forget, we are two levels below where we were.

Nah Useless, its the away games that count.

Await lots of posts tonight from Futuresoshyte, Zipped it, and Staffs.
Just to keep the match-thread numbers up, after all I don't know if you've noticed but.... nobody posts when we win. :  :D

Regarding the attendances we had the second highest in the league today (Swindon got 6K), but I agree with what has been said above, we should be averaging at least the same as Swindon. First time in 3 seasons that I feel like I could invite none Saddlers down to a game without feeling embarassed!

Why dont we all pick one game in the near future and try to drag one extra person down the match with us, I would love to see some plus 7000 gates again. As would Jeff!

Mark Wright was amazing in the second half (although collectively we were not brilliant in the fust half) the cross for keates was exquisite and the little bugger won me and Percie 13£ a piece.

I even saw a Wolves supporting mate on the walk back from Willenhall, PRICELESS
