Nah, that was his second game - first was a 2-0 defeat at Plymouth.

Southend will Decide to just play Freddy Eastwood on his own so thats why the score is going to be so low. He will get sent off in the second half for a dangerous two footed tackle on Andy Oakes. Walsall then manage to get 40% possession but couldn't get a goal, full time. Eastwood got 15 goals, Roper got 5, Pead got 10 and The ref got 2. 32 nil to Southend.

Eastwood is out according to one of their fans. Still have Goater in and Gray who I was impressed with at our place.

I'm hoping the arrival of KB can have the same effect Colin Lee did when we played Charlton and we do the unexpected.

ok, swap Eastwood with Goater! Good job Eastwoods out really but they will still give us drubbing. :? I have heard Gray is out as well.

Credit to the players and Broadhurst - it sounded like a solid, assured and comfortable performance.

It just shows what can be done with a decent manager...

Two trips to Essex against two teams who will be there or there abouts - two clean sheets.

Sounds like Southend should have won if they took their chances (according to BBC online) but hey, its a point we wouldn't have got on recent performances and a clean sheet away from home too! Well done Kevan and the lads!

Yes Jorge, excellent point, even better considering the great results (for us) at Notts Forest, Rotherham and Oldham. Yeovil lost too.

Have we moved up two places, or more ? Anyone seen the table yet ? Either way, it's very congested down the bottom of the table, and MK Dons hauled themselves a bit closer by winning, we could probably have done without that.

All in all, a very encouraging start for "Kevan Broadhurst's Walsall".

I particularly like this revolutionary tactic of playing Mark Wright on the right - very odd thing to do with a right-sided player. :?

Also, it was said when Smith joined us that he could fill in at left back, so how come it's taken until today to use him there ? Sounds like he had a useful game there deputising for Fox, so why have they been playing Wright out of position for weeks ? :o

Gerrard almost won it for us in the last minute with a header that Flahaven saved, so I don't think he went off bez ! :?

Roper misses the next match after getting his fifth booking today. Shame about that because the five booking rule only counts up to the end of February.

Osborn is now on nine bookings. When he gets his next one he will miss two games.

Great point today, now we need to keep it going, did well 1st half kicking against a strong wind according to the radio, better in the second and could even have won it in the last minute.just proves what a bit of organisation can do,and playing people in there right positions could have made a difference as well.Looking forward to the comments from the lads wene they get back.looking forward to the next home match now with more confidence after todays performance.UTS

An unexpected but most welcome point. Could prove crucial in the final standings, although I hope and suspect not. We'll pull away now. Quality will come to the surface, as will fitness and organisation. Well done KB and the lads. :)

Here's to...13th place come May!

It might sound strange having just played the team who are top of the league, but the real test will come next week against Bournemouth because we're going to need to score. I'm delighted with a point at Southend and it's a point more than I thought we'd get, but I just worry where the goals are going to come from. Hopefully, Broadhurst knows who he wants to bring in up front.
