this IS going to be tough.....colchester coming off a loss and thier players playing for fa cup places on sunday at chelsea.....as per last month, the mantra is still the same, stop danns and you stop colchester.......leary did a magnificent job on him at the bescot and that was by far his most inneffective game that i have seen him play this season (yet still at the centre of the key moment of the game, scoring their first goal-surely the sign of a good player).....keates, i presume, will be the one to try and keep him in check tomorrow, that could be the key clash tomorrow.....also, keep an eye on yeates on the left, he murdered pead 3 times in the first half at the bescot but offered no end product, i doubt he`ll be as wasteful tomorrow night.....fox did well keeping halford quiet at the bescot, halford isnt good enough to skip past people but his raking right to left passes have been a feature of colchesters home play this season.....garcia and iwelhumo are now getting as good as the cureton/iwelhumo partnership that kicked off their incredible run....but if you stop danns providing the supply you can keep them quiet.....i dont know, if we have enough cutting edge to trouble them an ordinary, functional back 4..... barrowman (saw him at brentford-not great, and from what i read not great on sat despite his goal) does not seem the be the answer to our struggles......prediction, 3-0 to them.....if you are coming down, the only real pre match watering hole is the Drury Arms on Layer Road itself, the pub is split into an `home` and `away` end (enter by the door on the side)....you can park there for £3.....

Shock 1-0 win for me, hoping they'll have their minds on Chelsea. Give me a straw and I'll clutch at it.

Colchester 1-2 Walsall. The new manager will be in attendance tomorrow night (rumour) so I would expect the players to give 110% and we will win.

Its a simple plan really...Go there with a real physical edge. They have Chelsea on Saturday, and none of them want to get injured.
This is the best time to play them, hopefully we can get some sort of result down there. A draw will more than do for me considering our away record. A win, though, can set us up for the rest of the season.

I shall be reporting live from the ground tomorrow. This time the texts will get to Neil to put onto the front page!! :D

I heard Parky talking to the cameras saying that Scunthorpe (I think it was) attacked them with pace from the off and surprised them, I suggest Halsall starts that way tomorrow.

Gerrard was only a one match ban but Leary is not available as his was a two match suspension. There has been no news on Fox's injury.

Actually, I noticed that Mills' booking on Saturday was his 8th in 23 appearances this season, so he's not far off a two match ban.

So basically no left-back then? Is Mills left-footed?

Star says that Fox is out tommorrow, and Timm faces a late fitness test.
Kevin James likely to start.

I'm not sure but if he avoids reaching 10 cautions by February 28th, he may not be suspended for 2 games (possibly only one).

Smith has played there but according to Bristol City fans is awful there and doesn't like it at all.

I really think we should be going 3-5-2 with the players we have available. Roper, Gerrard and Mills at the back with Keatesy, Smith and Osborn/Leary in front of them. We won't concede many goals with that line up. Wright and Ishmel as wing backs would work for one game.

I really like your 352 suggestion, MMF, and I think we'd have half a chance of scrapping out a goalless draw with that line up. However, I suspect we'll see a similar team to Scunthorpe (minus the suspended Devlin), which does not augur well - to concede 2 goals and fail to beat an average side at home would suggest that we could be in for a right tonking when we travel to one of the better teams in the League.

I still expect us to win, though! You have to be completely deluded to follow Walsall!

I just need to get down the bookies and grab some of that 3-1 about us being relegated before Messrs Hills & Ladbrokes wake up and realise we're sinking faster than the Titanic!
