Swindon Town (A) 31st January 2006 - League

Funny, no one seemed to want to start a match thread! Predictions, anyone? Geordie's pub guide is on the front page as well.

Its January, its away, its a must win game..... cant see anything other than a Swindon win. I'll go for 2-1 with Walsall getting a late goal after a much improved 2nd half performance.

2-2 draw... If we lose, I do honestly think it'll be the final straw and I wouldn't expect him to be there against Brentford.

Now Jeff knows he won't make any more money out of cup runs, he'll be concerned at the money we're losing on crowds. Defeats at Swindon and Brentford could lead to one of the worst attendances at Bescot for a long time when Scunthorpe arrive.

This was the game last season where we started our end of season run, Wright nicking it at the end.

The most important game of the season. MUST WIN.....

1-1

Who is going to play in defence at Swindon?

Merson tells us that:
"Ian Roper is probably out for another week and Chris Westwood's ankle swelled up during the game at Stoke, so we'll have to hope that settles down. Scott Dann is unwell so if Chris is out we'll have to shuffle things around."

Good job Swindon don't have any forwards . . . . .

. . . except for Trevor Benjamin, Lee Peacock, Albert Jarrett etc. etc. :(

Can't see us winning there.
2-0 to the Robins the only bright-side being Bonser realising enough is enough, sacking Merson straight after the game and not allowing him a lift home on the team coach.

I really can't see us winning now we have no defence. Peacock and Benjamin and whoever else plays will cause all sorts of problems.

I hope we can beat them to take some pressure off but I think we'll lose 2-1 unfortunately.

That said it will be two 'different clarse' goals and a 'couple of world clarse' saves that deny us a point at the County Ground.
it must be great in the small, shallow world of Paul Merson

I'll go for an optomistic 1-1. Peacock for them & Constable for us.

Awful first half, go in to the break with a 2goal deficit, start playing in the second half and finish the match 2-1 losers, much-improved second half performance masking the glaringly obvious fact that we only appear to play for a maximum of 45 minutes a game, and only start to play when 2-0 down.

I predict a game of awful defending from both teams....

us winning 3-2....

hopefully!

How many has Cureton scored against us over the years ? Sounds like it has been Oakes who has kept us in it till now. Still I'm sure an inspirational half-time talk will turn things round!

Geordie , you are too much of a pessimist- surely whilst automatic promotion is still mathematically possible then we should be aiming for that!
