Stoke City (A) 28/01/06- F.A Cup 4th Round

Tue Jan 24, 2006 12:43 pm

So how we going to do? Im off to Swansea in a bit and have got meetings all week so I thought id start this one off!

I think it will be 1-1. Stoke are struggling at home and have got a few injuries Saturday the most famous of them being Kevin Harper!
Back to Bescot for a replay.

Honestly think we can win this one if we play like we have the last few games, even with our ridiculous away record.
We wont keep a clean sheet though....3-2 to the saddlers with 2000 plus supporters urging them on.

I think we can win this if we can defend well. I hope Roper is back despite the good performances from Westwood, I still prefer Roper.

I think we'll win 2-1, if not 1-1 but any kind of win or draw will do!

I think we could win but it really does depend what kind of day we have!!

Good defending and plenty of fast direct wing play and we could catch them a couple of times on the break.

2-0 to us.

goals in the 28th and erm... the 88th minute. :D

coming up from London for it. yes!

Yes Neil, me too. Very enjoable it was too.

I hope all of this new found fervour doesn't turn negative and result in another lynch the manager, chairman, Zippy et al, should Stoke manage to pull off a shock result.

If we do win it will be a fantastic achievement, if we don't, I just hope and pray for a good performance to make it a close game.

My guess is 4-0 Walsall! Come on - James hat trick and Timm in 92nd minute. I'd love it if we beat em, just love it!!!

I was there as well Neil, only seems like yesterday, them were the days every team wanted to avoid Walsall'because we used to knock em over at home or away.

No match preview today. Instead, just to try and inspire the youngsters among us, a piece I did a while ago on the 1966 game is on the front page (and yes, Leamore, I know we have now established Matthews played in 62/3, it was 63/4 he was missing!). For the record, I don't think we'll have a better chance of beating them again as we have tomorrow, as their current form is abysmal.

Ah, sweet memories. I went with my father, being only 14 at the time, like yourself Neil. We stood around the halfway line and I remember a clayhead girl in front of us just before kick off saying to her friend that she wondered how many they would score.... Larf!

For years afterwards I had a picture from the paper of all the Walsall players pointing at the hole in the net where the ball had gone in. Wish I still had it.

My father was also a referee, and even taught referees later on (which is when I got my 'badge'.
