Might as well start it off. I'm pessimistic. We used to always win at Vale Park but Merson soon ended that tradition. I fear that our traditional hoodoo over Forest may be messed up by Merson, as well. I do hope I'm wrong.
2-1 to Forest.
2-1 to Forest.

3-1 at best, probably 3-0 (two bites of the cherry for me!).
Forest look organised at home, bar their early season jitters. I reckon we'll get cheesed, which is sort of like getting creamed, only more comprehensive and thorough...
Wish I was wrong, but all I can see us coming back from there with is a bitter after-taste.

Not a prayer IMHO - defeat for us, nailed on !
Won 5 in the last 7 is what some happy-clappers were saying a week ago, well I had to correct them, it was 5 out of 10 actually. Since then, won 1 at home, lost 1 away, ratio remains the same - simply not good enough.
Last 5 away games - 5 defeats - we are consistently cr@p away (and not too good at home). I see nothing to indicate anything at all from Forest or, for that matter, Bradford.

2-1 defeat. We will start off with some pretty football, but not have any chances. Gradually Forest will come into the game and have a decent 3 minutes, maybe a corner. Merson will change the formation in horror at this. Then they will score after half an hour (probably Tyson), Merson will change the formation again. We will start the second half with a decent 5 minutes, but fall further behind to a quick break, probably a free header from 6 yards. Then Merson will sound the cavalry bugle and we will dominate the last 15 minutes. Forest, being distinctly average will present us with about 3 clear chances one of which will be taken. Then after much hacking, thwaking and generally making themselves look silly against the teenage attackers the ref will blow and Forest win. 17,000 Forest fans will ruminate that it wasn't much good but a win's a win, now they just have to start doing it away from home, and hey they're stuck with Megson a bit longer.
1700 Saddlers will runimate that we can't do it away, but the last 15 minutes were exciting enough, and the chances are we will ease past Hartlepool next week - probably 2-1to leaving us stuck with Merson.

I don't honsetly think it matters DK. Expectations are now so low than anything other than a defeat away feels like winning the league.
I think if we went on a run of 5 or 6 straight defeats, including cup exits I doubt wether Merson would be under much pressure.
Somebody was on here before the Rotherham game saying 18 points from the next 10 games would be great, I thought that was a minimum achievable target. It's now 15 points from 8 required.

T'was Honest John that set that target... And 15 pts from 8 matches is actually Title form, (1.88pts/game = 87pts for the season, title form).
We're currently averaging 1.3/game (60pts for the season)... That's some turnaround in form.
It is actually tempting to write Merse a letter reminding him of his "judge me after..." and telling him that we're currently worse off than this stage last season.

To be honest I'm just holding out hope of avoiding an absolute pasting. If we can get away with out being 4 or 5 goals down then it'll be like a moral victory.
How can the happies continue to back Merson with the away from detailed in the other thread ? Mind you, they don't try to justify their position do they ? They just repeat the same 2 or 3 mantra's over and over again (because if you say them enough times they might just come true). fudge halfwits.

I think we will be very lucky to get away without a 4 or 5 goal pasting.
Their home form is good, and we dont bother turning up away from home.
We are struggling with injuries, and if Merson plays any part we will be down to 10 men.
As some one said earlier, they have a lot of pace up front, doesn't bode well for Ropes & Gerrard. I would personally play Bennett at Centre Back purely due to the fact that he is quicker.
Really hope i am talking sh!te, but i dont think so
