agreed Neil, after Sat I can just see them cocking this one up,as for the people are predicting Brentford to get 0,can you honestly see our defence playing 90 minutes without conceding,no-way.a score draw is the best we can hope for.

Can anyone confirm whether or not Craig Pead is suspended for the game tonight? No mention of him being suspended on the F.A site.

Match preview now on line. The club seems to think he's suspended, but who knows!

SkySports are predicting a 1-1 draw. Also, Simon Osborn is the League 1 player to watch - rightly so.

For what its worth Merson said he was suspended and both the E and S and Evening Mail reported likewise - showing their laziness again.
Also nobody has identified where the missing booking is from. According to both Soccerbase and the BBC for example he's been booked 4 times, so it must have been a friendly or something, but how does that count?
Might as well book him in training.

Who knows, have stopped predicting results this season.....

Formation should be 2,3,3,2,1 an experimental system I'm working on (fascinating system, with this you can nominate 2 rushback goalies, just about within the rules), looking for a sucker, sorry Professional to try it!!!! Fancy a chat Merse?

What happened to Merson - stretchered off?

Husbands now replaced by Bennett - interesting.

exile.
Sounds pretty scrappy from commentary. No real chances apart from a Fryatt header. Merson off with groin strain replaced by Mark Wright
Husbands replaced at half time with Bennett

Exile- Bennett seems to be playing wide left midfield! Seems to have had an impact according to WM. We are having better of it but no chances. Crowd sounds pretty quiet

If we score and other results are as now, we'll be up to 4th. If we don't the gap between us and the top two grows by another two points.

Just a couple of minutes to go - BBC stats as follows:

Possession:
Walsall 47%
Brentford 53%

Shots:
Walsall 7
Brentford 10

Corners:
Walsall 4
Brentford 5

Fouls:
Walsall 13
Brentford 17

Bookings:
Walsall 2
Brentford 3

Behind on everything. We can't even win the foul or booking counts tonight!

Sacvk m.... oh, hang on -a clean sheet is a rarity in itself. Excellent, that, to be honest, on the face of it, but let's see how good bad or indifferent our illustrious opponents were first, Zip.

New Match Report Form - here's a cut and paste match report for the lazier fans....

New match report form:

Walsall lined up in a x-x-x(-x) formation, as manager Paul Merson trialled another set-up for his team.

Starting quickly the opposition were quickly under the cosh as (name) went long towards their penalty area. The resulting scramble saw the ball fall awkwardly for a clearance as (name) and (name) scuffed their shots.

As the game developed it became obvious that (insert formation here) was unfamiliar territory to at least a few of the players, as (name) kept cutting in from the (left/right - delete as appropriate) leaving (name) exposed at the back.

(name) was a revelation in the unfamiliar role of (insert new position for player here) and ought to be considered there in future.

Proceedings were ruined by substandard refereeing from useless b******* (name) who's always had it in for us.

(home games only) The crowd were really quiet, which has to affect the team. Why isn't there any atmosphere at Bescot any more?

(away games only) The real travelling fans outsang the locals, and it was good to hear some old retro songs coming out.

(all games) Merson's post match interview made no sense, and bore no relation to reality.

IMHO opinion, that was absolutely clueless, how we are seventh i have no idea, however 3 points from relegation, I really could not understand tonight, absolutely appalling decision to play bennett as a winger, mind numbing

Brentford are a decent side and will probably win promotion.
We are okay, and will make the play-offs.

An entertaining second half, quiet first half - but Husbands should have put us one up by missing a shocker.
Merson picked up a nasty injury, if its serious that could be it for him I feel.

Both sides cancelled each other out - though Pead (Sponsor's man of the match), Gerrard, Smith and Osborn particularly impressed. Ruddy made 1 decent save, and Bennett came on at half time ON THE LEFT WING!
