9th according to the Beeb. A win on Tuesday would take us up at least a couple of places - but who would bet on that judging by our current inconsistency? Fantastic result today - I really couldn't see us getting anything from Scunny going by their current home form. Would be interested to hear from those that were there how we played and whether we shut up shop when we were in the lead. However despite the result, I'm still of my pre-match opinion that while we do have talent in the squad and potential to do well (even with Merson as manager) then we will continue to be inconsistent unless we stick to a settled team and formation playing our best players in their best positions. Still, at least I can enjoy my Saturday night for a change and I am actually looking forward to the next home game. Well done the lads - and Ossie in particular.

Match stats off bbc livetext
Possession:
Scunthorpe 55%
Walsall 45%
Shots:
Scunthorpe 10
Walsall 10
Corners:
Scunthorpe 5
Walsall 9
Fouls:
Scunthorpe 7
Walsall 23
Bookings:
Scunthorpe 2
Walsall 3
Biggest stat for me is the amount of fouls that we commited.
It looks bad 23 fouls, but for me it highlights things that were previously missing.
Agression
Determination
Commitment
All three qualities are needed in this league to get anywhere.
The fancy flick football comes after these three qualities are satisfied.
It at least sounds like we played with a bit of fire and steel.
Like it or not this league is physical and in previous games we have been out muscled.
I look forward to posts from people who went and can confirm if we played with greater determination.
Should have had greater possesion against 10 men though.
Up the saddlers.

dont get carried away lads because guess who's picking the team and tactics for the next game????
and before anyone says anything there will be no one more delighted than me if paul merson improves
enough to get manager of the year, after all we all want walsall to go up dont we

Tuesday is a massive game for us now. In my opinion, a win will see us back challenging with the top 3 or 4 which is where we need to be. The team should be unchanged now (depending on Leitao's injury). 3 points against Brentford and most people will forget about our recent drfeats against Yeovil & Chesterfield.

its nothing to do with yeovil and chesterfield its the way he picks the team and the formation thats got to change because the squad is easily good enough to go up as champions.WFC_Rob wrote:Tuesday is a massive game for us now.
